The Opportunity

 

The Hillspire Accounting & Finance team is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of information across all Schmidt entities. We’re building a world-class accounting team and strive for excellence in everything we do. 


As an Investment Accountant, you will be responsible for making sure the books are an

accurate representation of the entity's financial standing. You will also assist with processing of investment related transactions and reporting on the portfolio's performance. You will also have responsibility for financial and operational functions.


In this role you will

  • Perform daily accounting functions, including cash and account reconciliations, capital calls, distributions, and management fee expenses

  • Reconcile portfolio systems with ledger and maintain documentation behind transactions

  • Identify tax lots for daily processing of investment transactions

  • Ensure journal entries are booked and coded appropriately and in accordance with GAAP and tax reporting standards

  • Prepare schedules for the monthly close and prepare monthly financial statements

  • Participate in preparing tax schedules and gathering K-1's and assist with year-end tax reporting

  • Participates in annual audit cycle for Foundations; preparing required schedules needed for audit

  • Review financial information (e.g. valuations, quarterly capital statements, fund-level expenses, year-end financial statements)

  • Prepare internal financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system

  • Analyze information across entities to help develop reports and improve efficiencies

  • Other duties and projects as assigned


Your Experience

  • Highly detail-oriented

  • Ability to work in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork

  • Proven effective written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, with a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and accounting internal controls

  • Ability to be think strategically, but comfortable and prepared to be “hands-on”

  • Proficient in G Suite and Microsoft Office, with exceptional Excel skills (vlookups; pivot tables)

  • Strong desire to learn and excel in a fast paced team based environment

  • Knowledge of NetSuite, Advent APX, a plus
