Data Scientist (Translational Science)

Full-Time position
Location: Onsite (Philadelphia); with possible hybrid options
Start date: Open

Why Join Verismo?

Our team is small but driven, with the single focus of bringing life-changing cell therapies to patients with cancer. With a solid pipeline built around a novel KIR-CAR platform, our technology has found a way to circumvent the barriers in solid cancer where other CAR therapies have limited success. KIR-CARs eliminate the artificial chimeric constructs within T cells and instead use a natural NK-cell derived signaling system. This system is potent against both hematologic and solid tumors, and in preclinical models is superior to current CAR-T in conferring long-term sustained anti-tumor function to overcome the challenges posed in solid cancer. We have a strong team for CMC, clinical product manufacture, and clinical investigators already established and moving fast to bring KIR-CARs to patients in need.

Our company is comprised of individuals who each bring something unique to the table and are valued for their contributions. Our culture is based on the concept of ‘love what you do’ and the dedication that builds a team where people do their best and support one another. Because we believe our people are our greatest asset, career development is an important aspect of our investment in our team and we encourage work/life balance.

About the Position:

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to support the Verismo Translational Team across multiple clinical-stage programs. This role will report to the Biomarker Lead and offers the opportunity to contribute to data-driven decision-making in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to work closely with Biomarker and R&D scientists to generate insights that accelerate translational research and impact clinical development.

The Data Scientist will build and automate tools for multi-parameter data exploration, will help standardize datasets and streamline data analysis, and perform basic statistical analyses to enhance the speed, transparency, and scalability of our workflows.

The Data Scientist will also support the development and continuous improvement of biospecimen lifecycle management systems. The role involves designing and maintaining robust, audit-ready frameworks to ensure end-to-end visibility, traceability, and integrity of all biosamples across studies, from collection through analysis.

The Data Scientist will partner cross-functionally with Clinical Operations (ClinOps), Clinical Development, and Quality Assurance (QA), to ensure data integrity and enable efficient study execution and downstream biomarker analysis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with ClinOps, Clinical Development, and QA to ensure high-quality clinical and biomedical data to ensure accurate sample-to-data mapping
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and create intuitive tools for multi-parameter data visualization in collaboration with PhD scientists to uncover insights and guide decisions
  • Build and automate data pipelines and workflows to streamline data intake, QC, results reporting, and sample metadata integration
  • Standardize, integrate, and harmonize datasets from multiple sources to support cross-study analyses
  • Design and develop scalable biospecimen tracking and logistics tools that provide real-time visibility into clinical sample inventory, lifecycle, chain-of custody, location, and testing status, ensuring audit readiness and compliance with regulatory and internal QA requirements
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve data systems, workflows, and overall operational efficiency

Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Data Science or a related quantitative field
  • Strong hands-on data visualization and data analysis techniques (e.g. R, Python, Excel, SQL, GraphPad Prism)
  • Experience working with clinical, biomedical or translational datasets is preferred
  • Familiarity with Cell or Gene Therapy is a plus
  • Industry experience is desirable

Key Competencies:

  • Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to documentation and compliance best practices
  • Experience with bioinformatics, immunology, and oncology preferred
  • Ability to work with and integrate diverse datasets and sources
  • Collaborative, team-oriented attitude
