Position Overview

Rethink is a safety-first company, where your personal safety, and that of your team, is taken seriously. Rethink Electric is seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Safety to lead our safety program across all projects and operations. This individual will report directly to the CEO and play a critical role in shaping and maintaining a culture of safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and protecting the health and well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and clients. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in safety leadership within the construction or solar EPC industry, with a proven track record of developing and implementing robust safety policies across diverse field operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·       Develop and oversee safety policies, ensuring compliance across all departments, including office, warehouse, field operations, and apprenticeship programs.

·       Create annual safety and health plans, budgets, and training initiatives.

·       Lead and participate in the development of a Safety Committee.

·       Conduct job site audits and risk assessments, ensuring safety compliance on all projects.

·       Collaborate with managers and field supervisors to ensure safe work planning and training.

·       Create and deliver training programs, toolbox talks, and onboarding safety orientations.

·       Monitor safety performance, track KPIs, and report to leadership and regulatory bodies.

·       Lead emergency preparedness and ensure all safety protocols are in place.

·       Work with HR on workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.

·       Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all teams.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of safety experience in the construction or renewable energy industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • OSHA 500 certification (required for safety training of individuals).
  • Must be an effective communicator, capable of generating professional written material and delivering effective verbal presentations.
  • CSP, CHST, or other relevant safety certifications highly preferred.
  • Proficient in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (within Illinois and neighboring states).
