Title of Position: Lead Service Technician
Location: Local to Illinois
Job Description: The Lead Service Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the portfolio of assets managed by Rethink Electric to ensure optimum production. The Lead Service Technician will provide mentorship and oversight to Service Technicians and Apprentices while working onsite to ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Responsibilities:
● Research and implement best practices for performing preventive and corrective maintenance.
● Interact with utilities, facility personnel, service technicians, 3rd party vendors, and subcontractors to ensure optimal service for the Rethink Electric portfolio.
● Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PV systems, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical issues impacting production.
● Review project documentation including As-builts, Equipment O&M Manuals, Altas, IE Reports, and more to effectively manage the portfolio.
● Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
● Prepare and submit detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities in the work order management system.
● Update inventory levels with spares and parts used in onsite efforts.
● Initiate the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process for defective or damaged components with the required OEM, ensuring timely and accurate submission of RMA requests.
● Coordinate with the Asset Management team to ensure they are aware of and managing all new RMA claims.
Qualifications:
● Minimum of 5 years in commercial solar, including commissioning new systems and servicing existing systems.
● Electrical competencies include DC electrical and the ability to troubleshoot faults in the array, inverters, AC side, and communications/DAS.
● Previous Return Merchandise Authorization experience.
● Proficient reading technical specifications documents, site plans and electrical schematics.
● Ability to travel on short notice within the state and regionally.
● Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks/priorities.
● Comfortable working outdoors in the elements.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● OSHA certified.

The salary range for this role reflects the broad array of factors considered in making compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $80-100K. At Rethink, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, as compensation decisions are tailored to the specifics of each case.
