Position Overview:
SunVest’s Project Execution team is responsible for the successful delivery of solar projects, encompassing all phases from initial development through to commissioning, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
As a Project Manager based in our Chicago HQ, you will lead projects from mid-stage development through construction and O&M handover for ground mount and rooftop solar projects in various markets across the US. Project Managers are responsible for project reporting, completing permitting activities, supporting remote monitoring system setup, and other administrative and or documentation needs that come up. You will help manage the backend of bringing quality renewable energy generation systems on-line. Your expertise in engineering and project management will be pivotal to SunVest’s ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in steering projects from mid-stage development through construction to Operations & Maintenance (O&M) handover, ensuring all milestones are met timely and efficiently. Assist in negotiating Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts and populating project specific portions of EPC contracts. Support and monitor the progress of development and engineering activities, ensuring projects advance to Notice to Proceed (NTP) readiness.
- Create, maintain, and update project schedule files ensuring all timelines are met. Manage the overall project scope, meticulously tracking changes and adjusting schedules as necessary to meet project goals.
- Monitor project costs, ensuring they stay within budget, and identify potential risks, proposing mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Help track and update project data in company ERP/CRM platform(s), providing regular status updates to management. Ensure complete project documentation is prepared and made available for timely financial diligence and third-party engineering review.
- Maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and internal team members, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent field experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant project management experience, 1 year of which in solar distributed generation.
- Proficiency in using project management software, Excel, and online tools like Procore, MS Projects, or Primavera, for building schedules and generating project reports/trackers.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
