Position Overview:
SunVest’s Accounting & Finance team is responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP to report on Company performance. As the Staff Accountant based in our Chicago HQ, you will report directly to the Controller and work closely with other team members to assist daily accounting tasks, month-end close processes, and financial reporting. Your expertise in accounting will be pivotal to SunVest’s ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports.
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely posting of transactions in compliance with GAAP.
- Collaborate with team members on audit and tax preparation.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation to meet audit and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Renewable energy industry experience a plus.
- Construction or manufacturing industry (job cost & POC) experience preferred.
- CPA and public accounting experience preferred.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Exposure to NetSuite ERP a plus including posting journal entries, entering transactions and running reports.
