Mission Clean Energy is seeking a Real Estate Associate to join our dynamic team and support site acquisition for our solar and BESS projects.

About the Role:
The Real Estate Associate will support identifying and securing optimal sites for Mission’s growing pipeline of Solar and Battery projects. In this position you will conduct outreach and build relationships with a range of landowners in various communities with a people-first mentality; assist with market analysis and research, site identification and acquisition, real estate property negotiations and due diligence, interconnection, permitting, and proposal preparation while partnering cross-functionally with Mission’s development, permitting, development engineer, and finance teams collaboratively and effectively.

Responsibilities:

Market and financial analysis.

Monitor regulatory requirements for renewable energy projects.

Conduct preliminary permitting screening of sites with local jurisdictions and support the early stages of project permitting.

Analyze energy data and utility rates.
-
Support project permitting and interconnection.
-
Conduct outreach to landowners via mailers and/or phone calls.

Conduct site visits to assess physical site conditions, access, and surrounding land use as part of the site acquisition process.

Conduct desktop searches for potential project sites using ArcGIS.

Establish and maintain a site selection database.

Assist with acquisition of lease and purchase options and easements with landowners.

Support real estate transaction activity including identification and screening of acquisition targets, and negotiations for real estate property options, leases and easements.

Assist in identifying risks and corresponding mitigation strategies associated with transaction structures, title matters, and environmental conditions.

Support preparation of the real property component of development projects for financing by clearing interfering title matters, commissioning Phase I Environmental reports and ALTA Surveys.

Ensure the creation of appropriate land and transaction documentation and maintain orderly databases of key information.

Support the tracking and reporting of project specific budgets and schedules.

Keep internal staff up to date with regular reporting on site acquisition progress.

Identify process improvements and implement enhanced business practices that increase efficiency, reliability and/or timeliness of the real estate functions.

Advise internal staff on any fatal flaws or issues that may prohibit acquisition or development.

Effectively elevate issues to Managers as necessary.
Desired Qualifications:

Must be a highly personable self-starter.

Demonstrated contract drafting and review skills a plus.

Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills and ability to structure work to meet project schedules and deadlines.

Ability to prioritize tasks and juggle competing deadlines effectively.

Proficiency in Google Earth and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Smartsheet, Google Drive or ArcGIS a plus.

Understanding of real estate acquisition contract terms and strong negotiation skills are a plus

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients, consultants and landowners.

Strong oral and written communication as well as excellent analytical and commercial skills.

Exposure to the renewable energy industry is a plus.

A Bachelor's Degree is required.

Ability and willingness to travel within the United States as much as 25% of the time.
Mission offers highly competitive compensation. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and health insurance; 401(k) plan with company match; and generous time-off policies. Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 annual salary + bonus, depending on qualifications and relevant experience for associate to manager level.
