Position Overview:
The HR Generalist will be responsible for providing support and executing a wide range of HR functions to support the growing needs of our organization. A successful candidate will serve as a key point of contact for employees, ensuring a positive and productive work environment. They will handle routine HR tasks, assist in the recruitment and hiring process, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist will be a proactive individual who can manage day-to-day HR operations, support various HR projects, and contribute to the development and implementation of HR initiatives.
Core Responsibilities

Employee Relations – 20%

Serves as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries providing guidance on company policies and procedures.

Assists in the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives.

Supports managers in handling employee performance issues and developing performance improvement plans.

Recruitment and Onboarding – 15%

Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
-
Assist with the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, and coordinating interviews if needed.

Conduct new hire orientations and facilitate the onboarding process to ensure a smooth integration of new employees.

HR Administration – 20%

Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records, licensures, training, including personnel files, PTO, and leave management.

Prepares and processes HR documents, such as offer letters, employment contracts, and termination paperwork.

Drafts other HR documents as needed.

Benefits Administration – 10%

Assists in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, gym membership, and other company-sponsored benefits.

Addresses employee inquiries regarding benefits and refer as needed.

Compliance – 15%

Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, etc. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, certifications, etc.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews and keeps staff updated on relevant policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Training and Development – 10%

Coordinates employee training programs and workshops as needed.

Assists in identifying training needs and developing training materials to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

HR Projects – 5%

Contributes to various HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes and enhancing employee engagement.

Assists in data analysis and reporting to support HR decision-making.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Baseline - 5%

Participate in all required staff meetings and events.

Maintain up-to-date calendar and work plan.

Utilize – agency-wide systems and protocols for all agency business.

Offer at least 24 hours' notice for internal meeting cancellations/rescheduling.

Maintain Chain of Support for internal communications.

Other responsibilities as assigned.
About You
Our ideal HR Generalist is a dedicated HR professional with a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field and/or over 3 years of hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations. They possess strong communication and organizational skills, coupled with a solid understanding of HR principles and practices. This individual is adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of handling confidential information with discretion, making them a reliable and proactive asset to the ASHwell HR team. They should be able to work effectively with ASHwell's diverse staff and seamlessly fit into our inclusive and collaborative culture. Their proficiency in HR software and familiarity with compliance requirements further equip them to support our dynamic and growing organization effectively.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field or four years of HR experience in lieu of a degree.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role.

Strong knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Baseline understanding of gender pronouns, pro sex culture and HIV de-stigmatization and/or willingness to learn.

Ability to come in and hit the ground running, quickly adapting and contributing effectively upon joining the team.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a healthcare non-profit setting or a start-up.

Experience working with LGBTQI+ community.

PHR or SHRM-CP certification
