Job Description
Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a full-time Director of Labor & Workforce with a primary focus on compliance. This pivotal role will ensure adherence to labor laws and regulations while championing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within our workforce. The ideal candidate will oversee compliance efforts, working closely with internal stakeholders to foster a culture of ethical labor practices.
Key Responsibilities

Organize and execute strategies to ensure adherence to labor laws, particularly in Low-Income and Disadvantaged Communities.

Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive policies and procedures related to labor practices, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, and working conditions.

Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions in collaboration with the Human Resources department.

Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries related to labor laws and regulations, providing guidance and support as needed.

Stay abreast of changes in labor legislation and industry best practices, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders and facilitating training sessions to educate employees.

Collaborate with the Investments team to ensure that labor compliance is integrated into early-stage pipeline development and deal structuring processes.

Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and integrity within the organization, promoting a customer service orientation in all aspects of work.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

7+ years of experience in labor relations, compliance, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, with a strong track record of implementing compliance programs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and make sound decisions.

Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity and professionalism, able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software applications.

Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office quarterly for team collaboration.
