Climate United will use funding from the EPA under the Inflation Reduction Act to rapidly deploy low- and zero-emission products, technologies, and services to all American communities in order to (1) reduce GHG emissions and other forms of air pollutants; (2) bring direct benefits to American communities in the form of energy security, energy savings, cleaner air, and quality jobs; and (3) transform the capital markets so they can drive an equitable clean energy transition at scale. Job Description

Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a full-time Chief Strategy and Partnership Officer to lead our organization towards our ambitious goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Strategy and Partnership Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization's overarching strategy while forging key partnerships with policy makers, state and local governments, corporations, philanthropy, and other stakeholders that will enable us to maximize the impact of the organization. This role will also manage strategic communications to ensure we effectively tell our story to core audiences and the American public.  

Key Responsibilities 

Strategy Development and Execution: 

  • Lead the development and execution of Climate United's comprehensive strategy, ensuring alignment with program objectives and desired outcomes. 

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of internal and external market dynamics to inform strategy development and capital deployment. 

  • Oversee annual goal setting, budgeting, and operational planning processes to support effective strategy execution. 

  • Foster alignment and collaboration with coalition partners, including Self Help and CPC, to ensure cohesive strategy implementation. 

Partnership and Stakeholder Management: 

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, national partners, state and local governments, labor and workforce leadership, corporations, philanthropy, and other key constituencies. 

  • Support the coalition’s engagement with the U.S. manufacturing sector to support compliance with Build America, Buy America requirements.  

  • Manage relationships with EPA and other federal agencies, overseeing Climate United's execution of the National Clean Investment Fund competition. 

  • Provide regular updates on Climate United's progress and impact to stakeholders and constituents.  

  • Represent Climate United externally through speaking engagements, media interviews, and written communications, fostering transparency and open dialogue. 

Team Leadership: 

  • Develop and directly manage a team of dedicated individuals (6-8 people) across the organization, with a focus on external-facing functions such as strategy, communications, and policy.  

  • Manage relationships with key external service providers  

  • Foster a culture of professionalism, quality, and excellence within the organization, balancing impact, risk management, compliance, transparency, and financial sustainability. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Deep experience and credibility in community and/or climate finance in leadership roles. 

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale public-private partnerships, ideally with experience in financial services and with federal agencies  

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience interacting with national and local media and serving as a public ambassador of an organization. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build new businesses or organizations, with a focus on operations and infrastructure to ensure effective risk management, compliance, and controls. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse stakeholder groups to drive towards common goals and outcomes.  

  • Graduate degree in business, economics, finance, policy, or related field preferred. 

  • Passionate about the mission and work of Climate United, Calvert Impact, and committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.  

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office quarterly for team collaboration.
