Job Description: 

The IT Project Manager is responsible for taking projects from a conceptual stage through implementation. Taking direction from the VP of IT, the project manager collaborates with business and operational leaders on a variety of IT-based projects ranging in size and complexity. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Interact with leadership and stakeholders to establish priorities to achieve strategic plans and objectives.  

  • Ensure there is common and consistent project definition, specification gathering, and management process. 

  • Ensure there are common and consistent project milestones and associated deliverables for each project. 

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to create solution strategy. 

  • Identify critical milestones and risks; establish timeline; and develop an implementation plan (including task details, task owners, and dependencies).  

  • Oversee project execution, holding internal and external stakeholders accountable for deliverables. 

  • Adjust implementation strategy/approach based on observed results; identify cross functional process linkages and facilitate coordination and improvements. 

  • Ensure compliance with project deliverables, standard operating procedures, business practices, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Actively monitor project progress and provide proactive report-outs to internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Lead or participate as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects, as requested by the business. 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven history of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously within time and financial budgets. 

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. 

  • Ability to be initiative-taking, innovative, and creative in meeting business owner and enterprise needs. 

  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management.  

  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results driven environment.  

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.  

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.  

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important.  

  • Knowledge and understanding of system development, implementation, and support of small to large scale applications/solutions.  

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.  

  • Proficient in presenting data (PowerPoint, storytelling, etc.) 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Computer Science or Information Technology focus, preferred. MBA or other relevant advanced degree, preferred. 

  • 5 + years of experience managing the full lifecycle of IT-related projects. 

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office quarterly for team collaboration.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with software development processes and methodologies, including agile and DevOps practices a plus. 

  • Financial services industry experience a plus.
