Job Description:
Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a full-time Senior Director of Subawards to lead the development and execution of a comprehensive subaward management and oversight program under federal funding. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Senior Director of Subawards will play a pivotal role in ensuring subawards adhere to programmatic requirements and statutory obligations, thereby safeguarding the integrity of our grant-funded project.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsibility for the development and execution of Climate United’s subaward framework, including operationalization of subaward procedures, subaward oversight, and supervision and mentoring of staff responsible for subawards.
· Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, risk management, and legal, to integrate compliance measures into subaward management.
· Lead and mentor a team of subaward and compliance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure effective subaward management and oversight.
· Responsible for ensuring subaward files are maintained, procedures, templates, and resources are up to date, subaward monitoring and audits are conducted, and training and capacity building is provided when needed.
· Conduct regular reviews and assessments of subaward controls, identifying areas for enhancement and improvement.
· Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance with 2 CFR 200 and other federal requirements and stay abreast of changes in federal regulations and grant requirements, proactively adapting compliance strategies as needed.
· Cultivate a culture of compliance and ethics within the organization, promoting awareness and understanding of compliance obligations among staff members and subrecipients.
· Be proactive in developing solutions for a dynamic working environment

Required Qualifications:
· 10+ years of experience in subaward management under federal funding in a nonprofit or government setting.
· Thorough understanding of relevant federal regulations, including 2 CFR Part 200 and OMB circulars, governing grant-funded programs, preferably EPA funding.
· Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing compliance or subaward programs in complex organizational environments.
· Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
· Strategic thinker with the ability to align compliance initiatives with organizational objectives and mission.
· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced certification or degree preferred.
· Passionate about the mission and work of Climate United, Calvert Impact, and committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
· Willingness to travel up to 15%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office quarterly for team collaboration.
