USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport.
USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a visionary leader and experienced general manager to drive the next wave of grassroots innovation and growth in rowing across two emerging disciplines: coastal and indoors. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of both categories by expanding reach and igniting new passion for the sport. As the single-threaded owner for these disciplines, you will work cross-functionally to evolve USRowing’s mission-aligned strategy in these areas and execute against it both directly and in partnership with others. From the introduction of beach sprints to the LA2028 Olympic program to the burgeoning world of eSports, you’ll advance the legacy of rowing by charting a course for the next generation of rowers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Growth. Own and evolve a comprehensive, multi-year strategy for participant experience and growth across emerging disciplines. Establish Objectives, Key Results, and activities aligned with this strategy and the USRowing mission.
- Program Development. Partner with teams across the organization to deliver awareness, engagement, competition, learning, and inclusion initiatives to current and future USRowing members.
- Partnerships and Sponsorships. Work with the development and marketing teams on cultivating relationships with new categories of partners to deliver value to new categories of participants. Partner with World Rowing, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and other governing bodies of sport in the United States to align grassroots initiatives for growth across emerging disciplines.
- Alignment with High Performance Pathways. Assess, recommend, and implement “better together” solutions within the USRowing Pathways program to build momentum for both grassroots growth and success on the international stage.
- Stakeholder management. Identify, engage, and support diverse constituencies across both disciplines, simultaneously creating large-scale programs while remaining disciplined about priorities and sequencing.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making and Evaluation. Work backwards from qualitative and quantitative learnings to prioritize efforts. Utilize data and analytics to measure the experiential, operational, and financial effectiveness of programs, balancing the patience needed for early-stage programs while remaining steadfast about multi-year returns on investments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Product Management, or Operations highly preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful, cross-functional, and complex programs.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including the rigorous collection, synthesis, and assessment skills necessary to make well-reasoned decisions and trade-offs
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to lead through both direct ownership and influence.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Passion for sports, with knowledge of rowing a plus.
- Knowledge of / experience with the increasing overlap between sport and consumer technology a plus.
Salary:
$80,000
