About USRowing: 

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport. 

 

USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers.

Job Summary: 

 

USRowing seeks multiple candidates who are interested in being a USRowing Timing Contractor for the 2024 regatta season. USRowing is partnering with Time-Team as our official domestic timing partner for the upcoming regatta season.  

 

Time-Team is a regatta management systems & software company that provides a full-service regatta package including timing software and equipment, broadcast video-graphics, and both in-person and remote customer support. Time-Team is focused exclusively on user-friendly, reliable, and extensible timing operations for the rowing world.   

 

USRowing Timing Contractors will be the USRowing on-site points-of-contact leading all timing operations at selected regattas. Each contractor will travel to the select regatta, be in charge of setting up the timing equipment (FinishLynx Camera, timing tablets, timing computer, etc.), instructing the referees and volunteers on their duties that contribute to the overall timing of the regatta, and running the full timing operation at the regatta.  

 

USRowing Timing Contractors will have direct access to Time-Team system training in advance along with real-time virtual support from Time-Team throughout regattas.  

 

USRowing will cover travel and accommodations for USRowing Timing Contractors at regattas.

2024 USRowing Northeast Youth Championships, Lowell, Mass. – May 18-19 

2024 USRowing Youth National Championships, Sarasota, Fla. – June 6-9 

2024 USRowing Northwest Masters Regional Championships, Lowell, Ore. – June 21-23 

2024 USRowing Southeast Masters Regional Championships, Aiken, S.C. – June 22-23

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Timing Platform Training  

  • Engage in platform training of the Time-Team system in the weeks prior to the select regatta. 
  • Become an expert of the Time-Team system to assist the Regatta Director with all timing system operations. 

 

Equipment and System Set Up  

  • Understand and execute set up of the FinishLynx cameras, timing tablets, and timing computers for race day operations. This includes calibrating the equipment, testing for accuracy, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise during setup or operation. 
  • Assist the Regatta Director in setting up and editing the race schedule for the select regatta.  

 

Timing of Regatta on Race Day 

  • Set up and distribute all timing equipment to the needed parties before the regatta starts. 
  • Run a test of all timing equipment prior to the start of the regatta. 
  • Before the regatta starts, lead the morning training session for volunteers and referees as needed. Execute the full timing operation of the regatta.  
  • Work with the virtual support Time-Team representative as needed throughout the regatta. 
  • Assist the Regatta Director with schedule, progression, etc. changes throughout the regatta.  

 

Qualifications: 

  • Expertise in working with computers with ability to learn a new software system quickly and efficiently. 
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high intensity environment, simultaneously prioritizing attention to detail, and emphasizing precision and accuracy. Experience working in collaborative work environments, adept at multitasking and effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously.  
  • Base understanding of the sport of rowing is preferred. 
  • Travel is required for the select regatta(s) that the candidate works. Travel will take place 1-2 days before the regatta starts, and one day after the last regatta day.  

 

 

Compensation: $250 per race day. Travel and accommodations will be covered by USRowing.
