About USRowing:

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport.

 

USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers. 

 

We are focused on growing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sport of rowing on a national scale, on increasing support for our national team programs, and providing additional benefits and value to our over 75,000 individual members and nearly 1,300 rowing clubs.

 

Job Summary:

 

USRowing seeks an enthusiastic Director of Development to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned fundraiser with excellent written communication skills and experience in management. This role demands the ability to connect with donors and volunteers in a way that increases their knowledge and excitement about USRowing’s priorities and programs and to work effectively as a team member. This position works closely with the Senior Director, Philanthropic Giving at USRowing Foundation and manages the Development Operations Associate and USRowing Development and Athlete Success Coordinator  positions. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Annual Giving Program:

  • Take charge of the annual giving plan, aiming to raise $450,000 through peer-to-peer campaigns and multiple fundraising initiatives.
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure the success and seamless execution of each campaign.

National Team Alumni Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary contact for national team alumni, fostering relationships and keeping them engaged with USRowing.
  • Develop strategies to increase alumni engagement and philanthropy.

Stewardship of Top Supporters:

  • Steward a small portfolio of the top supporters of USRowing.
  • Implement a detailed engagement plan for these supporters to strengthen their connection with USRowing.

Associate Board Launch and Support:

  • Collaborate with the Community Team to launch and support the USRowing Associate Board.
  • Foster strong relationships with board members, ensuring their active involvement in fundraising efforts.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the development team budget in close collaboration with the finance department.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize the impact of fundraising activities.

Team Oversight:

  • Oversee the Development Operations Associate and USRowing Development and Athlete Success Coordinator, providing guidance, support and accuracy and timeliness of responsibilities.
  • Foster a collaborative and goal-oriented working environment within the development team.

 

Qualifications:

  • This is a full-time role that cannot be combined with other professional responsibilities during weekday working hours.
  • 7+ year’s experience in fundraising and donor management.
  • Expertise in data analysis and database (CRM) management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on precision and accuracy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Marketing, Non-Profit Management) or equivalent experience.

 

Salary: Starting at $85,000
