Location: Remote with strong preference to Pennsylvania, New Jersey or New York Area / Must be willing to travel

USRowing

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. 

 

The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers. 

 

We are focused on growing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the sport of rowing on a national scale, on increasing support for our national team programs, and providing additional benefits and value to our membership (approximately 80,000 individuals) and clubs.

 

 

What We Offer 

 

USRowing is offering two (2) USRowing RowFest National Championships Internships within the Competition Department, during the summer of 2024. The inaugural 2024 USRowing RowFest National Championships brings the entire United States Rowing community together for nine days of racing and revelry. USRowing is looking forward to having you join our team to host this event.

 

This internship primarily focuses on the planning and execution of the 9-day National Championship. This internship will provide valuable experience in regatta execution, project/event management, vendor organization, customer service and engagement, and much more.  

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Competition and the Competition Team on how to effectively host the inaugural 2024 USRowing RowFest National Championships.
  • Become a venue expert of the Riversport OKC venue in Oklahoma City.
  • Assist in the pre-planning of all aspects of the 2024 USRowing RowFest National Championships.
  • Manage specific projects at RowFest such as on-water management, land operations, vendor activations, community activations, award ceremonies, and learning & development sessions.
  • Execute on-site branding and signage at the event.
  • Coordinate and assist in managing USRowing’s event supply inventory for the regatta.
  • Complete athlete, coach, vendor, and other third-party administrative tasks. 
  • Assist in the physical set-up of the venue when traveling to USRowing events. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Interest in pursuing a career in sport management, business management, event management, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work creatively in fast-paced environments.
  • Elevated level of enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to travel from May 1-6 and the majority of July.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

 

Salary

  • $5,000
