About USRowing:

USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport.

 

USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Marketing Officer to lead our marketing strategy, brand strategy, and go-to-market activities. The CMO will be responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing strategies to drive engagement and affinity among all USRowing stakeholders; effectively communicate our vision, mission, and values; ensure delivery of clear, concise, and brand-aligned messaging for all program and governance communications; and grow sport awareness by promoting rowing across the country. The ideal candidate will lead from the front and have diverse professional experience across different marketing roles to apply a holistic approach to this opportunity. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Marketing Strategy. Develop and implement comprehensive marketing, brand, and communications strategies that aligns with USRowing's vision, mission, values, and objectives.
  • Brand Evolution and Execution. Ensure consistent execution of USRowing’s brand identity and insist upon the highest standards for communication across all platforms and mediums.
  • Digital Marketing. Lead digital marketing initiatives, including social media strategy, email communications, website design, execution, SEO, and SMS engagement.
  • Sponsors and Partners. Support Development and other USRowing teams to secure sponsorships and partnerships that support the growth of rowing in the U.S. and align with USRowing's values.
  • Event Marketing. Develop marketing campaigns for USRowing events (including regattas, camps, clinics, conferences, and fundraising opportunities), milestone moments for our sport (the Olympics & Paralympics, world championships, etc.), and evergreen programs like United We Row.
  • Public Relations. Manage public relations activities, including media relations, press releases, and crisis communication.
  • Team Leadership. Lead and mentor the Marketing & Communications team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment that continually raises the bar on both performance and professional development
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making. Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies and the overall investment in the Marketing function across the organization
  • P&L Ownership. Actively own and manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and insisting upon a compelling return on investment.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant marketing experience, with at least seven years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and trends.
  • Superior command of financial management, data analysis, and other quantitative skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for sports, with knowledge of rowing a plus.

 

Salary:

$150,000
