USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves multiple constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, parents of rowers, masters rowers, adaptive rowers, collegiate rowers, indoor rowers and, most recently, coastal rowers.

Job Summary:

The High Performance Coach Sculling (HPCS) is a strong and organized manager who leads with integrity and is focused on the growth and success of the Olympic sculling program. The HPCS is charged with running the sculling program for the Olympic Training Pool on a daily basis, while interacting with the rowing community to explain and communicate USRowing's High Performance philosophy.

The HPCS has excellent coaching skills and experience of developing and maintaining effective systems for data collection, information sharing, and project management. The HPCS possesses excellent written and verbal communications skills and has the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical supervision to the athletes of the Olympic Training Pool for the sculling program.
  • Execute and monitor the yearly training and competition plan to ensure optimal performance of the individual athletes.
  • Manage the integrated sport services and service providers, including sports medicine, biomechanics, nutrition and sports physiology.
  • Communicate with collegiate and club coaches to ensure understanding of the pathway to the Olympic team.
  • Deliver input into high level strategic planning to ensure long term results for the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years elite coaching experience.
  • Strong references from coaches and athletes.
  • Impeccable safety record.
  • Strong record of effective and respected management of a team/staff.
  • Deep knowledge of the sport of rowing.   
  • Ability to work across teams, with various partners, stakeholders, and athletes to achieve success.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Salary Range: $95,000 – $105,000
