USRowing is a nonprofit organization recognized by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States. The organization’s mission is to steward, strengthen, and grow American rowing by championing performance and igniting new passion for the sport.
USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competition. The organization serves a diverse array of constituencies including novice learn-to-rowers, masters rowers, national team athletes, collegiate rowers, adaptive rowers, and coastal rowers.

Job Summary:
USRowing is seeking a highly organized and strategic Chief of Staff (COS) to work closely with the CEO in this newly created role. As the COS, you will support the CEO on the priority tasks and ensure that key initiatives move forward across all departments. You will manage incoming communications, drive cross-functional projects, and oversee organizational processes like the Monthly Operating Review and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). You will also act as a representative for the CEO in key meetings and communications when needed. This is a highly cross-functional role, working with various stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and leadership at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, as well as World Rowing.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Advisor: Work closely with the CEO to prioritize key initiatives, enabling focus on high-impact areas.

Communication Management: Field and manage a large volume of communications, ensuring the CEO's time is focused on critical matters.

Project Leadership: Oversee projects across departments to ensure alignment with USRowing’s objectives and mission.

Operational Cadence: Lead the organization’s Monthly Operating Review and manage the OKR process for cross-functional alignment and accountability.

Representation: Represent the CEO in meetings and respond to stakeholders when necessary, maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Board Liaison: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to manage communication, organize meetings, and track action items.

Administrative Oversight: Manage a fractional administrative assistant responsible for calendar and travel management.
Qualifications:

Proven Experience: 5+ years in a leadership, operations, or Chief of Staff role within a complex, mission-driven organization.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities across diverse stakeholder groups.

Organizational Expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience driving high-level initiatives across departments, ensuring coordination and alignment.

High Standards: Commitment to quality output, attention to detail, and representation of USRowing.

Adaptability: Ability to navigate ambiguity and adjust to shifting priorities quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in sports administration or working with national governing bodies.

Knowledge of rowing, or a strong passion for athletics and sports governance.

Experience with OKRs or performance management systems.

$85K-90K
