Veterinary Dental Technician- Sarasota/Venice, FL


HealthySmiles is transforming pet dental care by providing a natural, less invasive and affordable alternative to traditional pet dentals.  Over the past 6 years, we have perfected dental cleanings for dogs and cats without the use of anesthesia. The Dental Technician position is one of the most challenging yet impactful roles within the Company.  As a member of the technician team, you will perform highly skilled dental technician work supporting a senior and/or lead dental technician in a fast paced working environment.  Technicians maintain a close working relationship with their Technician Supervisor and exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in the care and dental cleaning of dogs and cats. Work involves anesthesia-free teeth cleaning on a wide variety of breeds, sizes, and temperaments in various locations throughout the United States. 


Don’t have a lot of pet dental experience? No problem, we provide on-the-job training. If you are entrepreneurial and have the innate ability to execute, we would love to hear from you.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide exceptional customer service to pet parents and business clients throughout the teeth cleaning process;

  • Educate pet parents on the need for wellness and preventative care;

  • Prepares animals for dental cleanings;

  • Cleans calculus deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath gum margins with dental instruments; 

  • Perform and completes teeth cleaning and polishing, including sub-gingival scaling utilizing the best practices and latest techniques and gentle-holding positions;

  • Charts conditions of dental decay and disease for diagnosis and possible treatment by/or referral to veterinarians;

  • Knowledge of dogs and cats, breeds, and temperaments

  • Knowledge of methods and practices of dental cleaning of dogs & cats

  • Knowledge of overall dentistry, dental hygiene procedures, and medical history documentation preferred

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment and exhibit independent judgement, critical thinking, and decision making skills

  • Ability to travel out of state if necessary

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Flexible schedule which will include weekends

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment

  • Professional appearance and have a positive attitude

  • Possess excellent time management skills.

  • Detail oriented and must consistently deliver an accurate work product.

  • Pet industry experience preferred
