The National Grazing Lands Coalition’s (NatGLC) New Mexico-Kansas Grazing Lands Network Program (NM-KS GLN) Director is responsible for leading a small team of technical grazing experts to execute programs aimed at providing grazing livestock producers the technical and financial support they need to improve their lands and operations as well as facilitate the development of supply chain programs and grazing producers’ access and success in these emerging markets. The NM-KS GLN Program Director will work closely with the NatGLC Board of Directors, Executive Director, and external partners to fulfill the mission of the NatGLC. This full-time position is currently funded by three, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Advancing Markets for Producers Program (AMP).
Essential Requirements & Responsibilities:

Must live in the states of New Mexico or Kansas

Minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience required

Required experience and familiarity with the New Mexico and/or Kansas grazing industries
-
Required experience in program design and management, showing ability to meet deadlines and deliverable goals

Serve as the lead for the two states (NM/KS) in NatGLC’s six-state program called Legacy Landscapes, and work closely with other Marketing and Promotion Team members to advance the goals and objectives of Program. Also serve as the lead for grazing initiatives in Missouri and Arkansas.

Build a team to execute the project, in conjunction with the other Legacy Landscapes Directors and all NatGLC Directors and teams

Manage the day-to-day activities of the Program, including managing the NatGLC NM-KS GLN team, sub awardees, contractors, the project budget, progress reports process, producer engagement, and supporter/funder relationships

Support the development of success of local grazing coalitions and initiatives wtihin the region

Engage with funding organizations and agencies to further the program and develop new programs to meet the needs of grazing producers in the region

Travel to different locations across the project geography to manage relationships with producers, staff, sub awardees and contractors

Work closely with the Head of Finance and Accounting to manage the project budgets, and develop and submit mandatory reports

Work cooperatively with the Executive Director, Executive Board, and the Board of Directors to strategically plan the future of the organization through agreements and partnerships to successfully fulfill the Mission of the organization.

Working Environment/Physical Activities: Work environment is an office setting and outdoors. Physical activities include sitting at a desk and working on a keyboard and computer several hours a day; conducting business over the computer and telephone; standing for long periods of time; traveling long distances by vehicle (including traveling on unpaved roads). This position may also require moving materials up to 25 pounds. This position requires the ability to enunciate clearly, facilitate meetings, and interface professionally with the public.

While we offer a remote and flexible work environment this position is a full-time, salaried position keeping typical business hours when not traveling. Travel may be up to 25%.
