Regional Support Specialist

Job Description

 

The Regional Support Specialists for the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation have energy and passion for the mission and vision of the REC Foundation. This position is primarily responsible for supporting our programs and developing programs staff, Event Partners, and Coaches. Typically, Regional Support Specialists will either support robotics programs or drones programs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Event Support
    • Attend events hosted by the REC Foundation and Event Partners as needed
    • Keep up to date on the current year’s games for specific programs as requested
    • Complete Training (Head Referee, Judge Advisor, Event Partner) as requested
    • Communicate with the Event Partner for assignments and details regarding the support of the event
    • Communicate with the Event Partner or event host on the needs and challenges of the event
    • Assist in all aspects of the event as requested by the Event Partner or event host
    • Ensure that the event and attendees are following the RECF Code of Conduct, Student Centered Policy, and Commitment to Event Excellence
    • The RSS will NOT do the following for an Event Partner:
      • Be the Head or Scorekeeper Referee
      • Run Tournament Manager
      • Be the Judge Advisor or on the judging team
      • Run Skills or Practice Fields
      • Assemble the field components
      • Be the Emcee for the event
      • Do ANY of the volunteer positions
    • Maintain regular communication with RECF staff in regards to events
    • Assist with the collection of data to evaluate event success
  • Team Support
    • Ability to communicate professionally about common team issues and questions
    • Maintain regular communication with RECF staff for assignments and details regarding the team support
    • Assist in all aspects of team support as requested
    • Assist with the collection of data to evaluate engagement/re-engagement of teams and team participation in events
    • Assist with grant application reviews and follow-up as needed
    • Assist with volunteer recruitment
    • Assist with additional projects as assigned

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Uphold organization policies and standards, including but not limited to policies found in the Employee Handbook, the Code of Conduct, the Student Centered Policy, and the Commitment to Event Excellence
  • Ensure and maintain an ethical, trusting, inclusive, and productive work environment
  • Provide continual feedback to help maintain program integrity
  • Monitor and compile individual monthly travel and expenditure reports in a timely manner

 

Additional Information

  • Currently looking for Drones support in the following areas:
    • Western United States
  • Primary Location:
    • Event Support - onsite at the event location, travel may be required
    • Team Support - remote
  • Schedule: 
    • Specific schedules will be discussed with your direct manager
  • Position Salary Range: $18.00 per hour

 

Requirements

  • Event Support
    • Prior event experience and strong history of well-run events, teams, and assistance in a local area
    • Experience with RobotEvents, Tournament Manager, and the Event Partner process to run and manage an event
    • Willingness to support and utilize problem-solving skills during assigned events
    • Personal transportation to and from the event; willingness and ability to travel
    • Strong communication skills
    • Weekend availability to be onsite at selected events
    • Attendance is mandatory at assigned events
    • Commitment to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Team Support
    • Prior coach/mentor experience
    • Experience with RobotEvents
    • Willingness to support and utilize problem-solving skills to support the robotics community
    • Strong communication skills
