SUMMARY/SCOPE:
858 Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in San Diego and focused on the discovery of novel medicines for the treatment of cancer. We seek a highly motivated associate scientist with in vivo pharmacology expertise to join our drug discovery team and support research efforts for targets in oncology and immunology. Our team members work closely with our various research teams to support our oncology studies and advance programs towards clinical development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
These will include, but are not limited to:
1. Broad knowledge of small animal anatomy and physiology.
2. Basic lab animal technical procedures such as bleeding, dosing (i.e., PO, SC, IP and IV), surgeries, and necropsies.
3. Experience with setting up subcutaneous xenograft models and measuring tumor growth.
4. Understands goals and objectives of the studies and able to trouble shoot and propose creative solutions.
5. Maintains accurate and organized record keeping in laboratory notebooks and appropriate databases in a timely manner.
6. Experience with basic in vitro techniques such as RNA preparation from tissues, qPCR, Western blotting and flow cytometry is a plus.
PREREQUISITES:
· BS/MS with 2-3 years of relevant in vivo work experience in either an academic or biotechnology environment
· Must be organized, detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills
· Must be flexible and adaptable
· Must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and experience in drug discovery with a proven track record of scientific accomplishment, as well as a demonstrated ability to work collegially in a team environment.
