Wild Sky Media, with a fully remote international staff, is looking for a Freelance Senior Entertainment Editor.  This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who has had experience in the digital media industry.  We develop a wildly original group of parenting brands that collectively speak to the most diverse group of women ever to enter motherhood. 


About You:

WildSky Media is seeking a seasoned editor to join our team and indulge in all things pop culture and celebrity. The right candidate can thrive in an oftentimes fast-paced environment, where they’ll jump on breaking news and find fresh angles on popular subjects to cover.


The right candidate thrives in a team environment but can also work independently, meet deadlines and expectations, and demonstrate strong editing skills. This position is for someone deeply immersed in the entertainment industry who is savvy with finding news on social media and new angles to cover it. Those who apply should have a strong knowledge of SEO practices for packaging stories, a passion for creating good content, and can exceed expectations.


The Role:

As the Senior Entertainment Editor, you will edit daily news stories throughout the week, in addition to writing a number of posts each month. You will work closely with the DeputyEditor, Entertainment to manage the day-to-day workflow, meet channel goals, and oversee an awesome team of freelancers — prioritizing and assigning work using analytics that stays on brand.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, or related field;

  • 5+ years of experience writing and editing (accuracy, grammar, flow, structure);

  • Strong attention to detail and fact-checking;

  • Story judgment and packaging skills;

  • Ability to multitask and oversee various assignments;

  • Ability to identify engaging stories that have the potential to go viral and create click-worthy second-day angles;

  • Knowledge of pop culture and celebrity parents;

  • Strong knowledge of royals news (Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, etc.) and Duggars preferred;

  • Experience with SocialFlow, Google Analytics, and BrightEdge a plus;

  • Other duties, as assigned.


This position is a contract position and is not eligible for medical, dental, vision, or other benefits provided to full-time employees.
