Position Summary

 

The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting related to various monthly accruals, accrued expenses, daily cash, preparing various reconciliations monthly, audit schedules, and special projects as needed. The Staff Accountant will work with other departments within the Company to ensure the books, records, reports are accurate and reported timely.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage QuickBooks and accounting entries for all AP/AR transactions
  • Responsible for preparing and posting daily cash entries.
  • Recap and reconcile various cash based expense accounts.
  • Participate in the monthly review of variance analysis - cost centers reviews.
  • Prepare the AR Allowance Schedule.
  • Maintains and compiles financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Help with preparation of schedules and other duties associated with the year-end external audit and collateral audit.
  • Work on special projects and requests as needed from departments.
  • Audits and otherwise ensures that all financial transactions are in keeping with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and legal requirements.
  • Analyze general ledger account variances from plan and trend as assigned by management.
  • Prepare all balance sheet account reconciliations including summarizing all activity in the AP and AR accounts. Find the root cause for reconciliation differences and implement corrective action.
  • Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Gathers current information regarding yearly tax tables, instructions and required forms needed to accurately calculate and process taxes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of accounting/finance experience. Account reconciliations experience required.
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP, financial forecasting, and risk analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of accounting programs and strong track record of successfully resolving accounting program issues.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Customer Service focused Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to maintain a professional approach always.

 

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience required.
