MULTILATERAL ENDOWMENT MANAGEMENT COMPANY

Multilateral Endowment Management Company (“MEMCO”) is a not-for-profit investment manager, located in Edmond, Oklahoma, that is dedicated to providing investment advisory services to other not-for-profit organizations.


KEY AREAS OF FOCUS

Under the primary supervision of the Director of Investments, the Investment Officer will be an integral member of a small investment team.  The position will be primarily responsible for sourcing, evaluating, recommending, and monitoring investment managers and market opportunities across public and private assets, including public equity, private equity (e.g., buyout, growth, and venture capital), hedge funds, real assets, and fixed income, and will work as part of a collaborative team to support the overall investment program.  Responsibilities include:

Current Investment Manager and Portfolio Theme Due Diligence – 50%

  • Maintain “primary” and “secondary” coverage for current investment managers across public and private asset s.  Perform ongoing due diligence (e.g., review monthly/quarterly letters and risk reports, lead virtual and/or in-person meetings, etc.) and present key takeaways to the investment team, to inform manager sizing decisions.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative research related to key portfolio themes and make presentations to the investment team, to inform asset allocation decisions.

Prospective Investment Manager and Portfolio Theme Due Diligence – 35%

  • Source and evaluate best-in-class investment managers across public and private assets.
  • Source and evaluate compelling long-term investment themes and tactical opportunities across global capital markets.
  • Work collaboratively with MEMCO’s investment team to perform deep due diligence on the most compelling managers and market opportunities and make recommendations to the Chief Investment Officer regarding new investments for client portfolios.

Other Activities – 15%

  • Prepare and review materials for, and participate in, quarterly Board and Client meetings.
  • Assist with providing direction to Investment Associates and Interns.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.


JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

Education & Certifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record in any discipline is required.
  • A Master’s degree and/or professional investment certification (e.g., CAIA, CFA) is preferred.

Experience

  • More than five years of finance or business experience relevant to investments, including at least five years of experience in an investment-oriented role at an endowment, foundation, pension, family office, fund of funds, or investment consultant.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions of team members and investment managers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others within MEMCO and across various client departments.
  • Must demonstrate dependability by meeting deadlines and a desire to continue expanding their and the team’s institutional knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and intermediate experience with other Microsoft Office products.
  • High ethical and professional standards and must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
  • Adaptability and flexibility are essential.
  • Experience utilizing the following systems is a plus:  Caissa, Backstop, PitchBook, Matlab, or similar software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must use a computer terminal and view a computer screen for extended periods of time.  Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to people both internally and externally.  Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types.  Must be able to navigate within MEMCO’s offices. Typical office working conditions. Must be able to travel globally if needed.
