Operations and Operational Due Diligence
MULTILATERAL ENDOWMENT MANAGEMENT COMPANY
The Multilateral Endowment Management Company(“MEMCO”) is a not-for-profit investment management company located in Edmond, Oklahoma, and is dedicated to providing investment advisory services to other not-for-profit organizations, including endowments and foundations.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS
Under the primary supervision of the Counsel, Director of Operations and Operational Due Diligence, the Investment Operations Associate will be an integral member of a small investment team. The position will be primarily responsible for supporting the middle- and back-office functions, but it will also support internal operations as needed. Responsibilities include:
Performance Reporting, Investment Transactions, and Reconciliations – 70%
- Ensure investment transactions and cash movements (e.g., subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls, distributions) are handled and recorded in an accurate and timely manner.
- Record and reconcile investment transactions using various spreadsheets and software tools (e.g., Backstop, Caissa, and others) to ensure accurate and timely performance reporting.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for various investments.
- Assist in the development of monthly and quarterly performance reports and ad hoc requests for performance information for clients.
- Assist in the completion of quarterly and annual surveys about the structure and performance of the investments of clients.
- Work closely with client custodian’s and other service providers. Coordinate and fulfill client requests for information related to investment transactions and reporting.
Accounting, Audit, and Tax Support – 20%
- Track MEMCO budget and expenses and provide information to third-party accounting firm.
- Assist with annual internal audit and Form 990 submission.
- Assist with interim and year-end requests associated with accounting, legal, tax, and external auditors for clients.
- Help serve as a liaison regarding operational matters between investment managers and clients.
Other Activities – 10%
- Prepare and review materials for Board of Director, Executive Committee, and Investment Committee meetings and other meetings as necessary.
- Research and engage in discussions about the regulatory environment and its impact on both our individual investment managers and our overall asset allocation.
- Assist with providing direction to Investment Associates and Investment Interns regarding the operational due diligence and back-office functions.
- Assist with ongoing operational due diligence reviews of existing managers, including review of audited financial statements and ADVs.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE
Education, Certifications, and Experience
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record in any discipline is required.
Preferred:
- A degree in finance, accounting, or business-related field and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CAIA, CFA, FRM) is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of two years in accounting, finance, or related experience with an audit firm, investment management firm, financial institution, or allocator (e.g., endowment, foundation, pension, family office, fund of funds, or investment consultant) is strongly preferred.
- Two years or more of accounting or business experience relevant to investment middle- and/or back-office functions is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of alternative investment strategies, specifically hedge funds and private equity funds is preferred.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and intermediate experience with other Microsoft Office products.
- High ethical and professional standards and must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
- Adaptability and flexibility are essential.
- Experience utilizing the following systems is a plus: Caissa, Backstop, PitchBook, or similar software.
- Willingness and ability to travel on rare occasion as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must use a computer terminal and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to people both internally and externally. Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types. Must be able to navigate within MEMCO’s offices. Typical office working conditions. Must be able to travel globally if needed.
