The Director, Engineering is a Director-level role at AbsenceSoft, a global leave management software company. This role is higher than a Sr. Manager but not a Sr. Director. It is a people leadership position responsible for leading multiple engineering teams and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products. The Director, Engineering will align technology initiatives with business goals, mentor engineering leaders, and drive innovation and excellence in engineering practices across the organization.

What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage multiple software engineering teams, ensuring delivery of scalable and maintainable software solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Management, QA, and other departments to define and deliver on roadmap priorities.
- Drive strategic planning and execution of engineering initiatives aligned with company objectives.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, standards, and processes.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and professional development of engineering talent.
- Manage team performance through regular feedback, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Ensure high levels of system reliability, security, and performance.
- Advocate for and implement agile development methodologies.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify technical solutions that meet business needs.
- Lead initiatives to improve system architecture, code quality, and development velocity.
- Track and report on key engineering metrics and KPIs.
- Champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What’ll Set You Up for Success
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering leadership role.
- Proven track record of leading high-performing software teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in SaaS, HR technology, or leave management software industries.
- Background in scaling engineering organizations in a high-growth environment.

- The salary range for this position is $211k - $250k.
