POSITION SUMMARY


Thea Pharma, Inc. (TPI) is the newly established US commercial organization of French-based pharmaceutical company, Laboratoires Théa (Clermont-Ferrand). The company has focused on the development and commercialization of OTC and prescription therapeutics for the treatment of eye diseases for over 27 years. Thea is advancing development for OTC and prescription ophthalmic products and expects to launch its lead product candidates in the US in 2022.


The Director of Sales Training US will partner closely with the Head of Commercial Operations and Analytics to ensure branding is based on corporate and national messaging.  This individual is a dynamic member of Thea Pharma, Inc. commercial operations planning team.  This position will have high visibility to executive level decision makers and require strong leadership to ensure alignment across multiple cross-functional teams. This role reports to the Vice President of Commercial Operations and Analytics of Thea Pharma, Inc.


 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Lead the development and production of training materials for TPI OTC and RX product lines.
  • Schedule and lead trainings for newly hired employees as needed.
  • Work with Global sales training team to adapt existing training materials for the US market as appropriate.
  • Work with marketing and sales to develop ongoing training to support business objectives.  This includes development of POA training objectives and workshops, ongoing sales skills training, development of a TPI specific selling model and philosophy.
  • Embrace entrepreneurial spirit for an emerging biopharmaceutical company - the ability to foster relationships and the ability to develop innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Partner in the development and execution of all training needed to endure high-level product knowledge and account-based selling skills, plus proficiency in systems and processes to ensure accuracy in reporting metrics.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to maximize business opportunities and work collaboratively with other key functions to address customer needs.
  • Partner with HR to develop and implement recruitment strategies, as well as employee development and performance management plans.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing and Commercial Operations to establish aligned quarterly/annual goals and objectives, incentive compensation plans and recognition awards program.
  • Plan, organize, and execute local promotional speaker programs and activities.
  • Maximize budget allocated to the geographic territory to support execution of strategies and tactics and generate/grow the business.
  • Participate and help lead initiatives to support sales success as assigned (e.g. participate in industry related congresses, local and regional meetings and medical conferences).
  • Works directly with field team and corporate management, to enhance and/or design and deliver educational training for field sales managers, field management, marketing personnel, clinical and medical personnel (where requested).
  • Supports the management of the sales readiness platform including integration of new content and user systems in coordination with internal and external partners.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners across the organization to deliver training solutions that meet identified objectives.
  • Support selling and soft skill development of the sales managers to enhance sales conversations and customer interactions.
  • Works with Legal Medical Regulatory review teams to manage the development of training materials from the conception stage to delivery.  
  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations.  
  • Assist with various products as assigned by direct supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • BA or BS degree (MBA, PharmD or other advanced degree a plus).
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device sales experience.
  • Strong leadership, team building and organizational skills. Proven ability to coach and develop staff as well as technical ability to coordinate  functional business activities
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical and scientific product-related information.
  • Ability to travel to meetings/trainings/programs as necessary - additional travel may be required within the assigned territory.
  • Proven success and positive track record of consistent sales performance in complex markets and diverse customer segments operating with a high degree of integrity within compliance guidelines.
  • Ability to operate as a “team player” in cooperation with collaboration partners and internal colleagues to reach common goals.
  • Analyzes and understands market dynamics in the evolving healthcare and regulatory environment and uses approved information to anticipate and communicate the impact of changes on the market with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Must be effective working in a team environment with strong collaboration skills to gain alignment.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory/legal environment with knowledge of compliance requirements for appropriate interactions and relationships with healthcare professionals (i.e., PhRMA Code).

  • Extensive proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook).
