Job Summary:
The Specialized Technician owns technical execution within their discipline (audio, video, lighting, or rigging) across live events and internal prep. This role partners closely with Production Managers, Account Managers, and warehouse teams to translate show requirements into reliable outcomes. On show sites, this role provides direction and decision-making when leadership is needed to keep events on track. Off site, the role supports equipment quality, planning, and technical readiness.
Primary Responsibilities:

Lead technical execution on show sites within assigned specialty, maintaining show quality, safety, and client expectations

Translate show requirements into technical plans by collaborating with Production Managers and reviewing equipment pick lists

Provide on-site leadership and direction to freelancers and union labor when required

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues during prep and live events

Own equipment readiness through testing, maintenance coordination, and issue escalation (including RMAs)

Support inventory accuracy and quality control in partnership with warehouse and production teams

Uphold OPAV safety standards and industry best practices across all work environments
Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated hands-on experience in at least one technical discipline: audio, video, lighting, or rigging

Ability to work live events and adapt in real time under time pressure

Strong verbal communication with crew, production managers, and clients

Ability to safely lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 80 lbs occasionally

Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable schedules based on show needs

Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurance requirements

Commitment to safety policies and job-site compliance

Clear verbal communication with crew, managers, and clients

Comfort providing direction to freelancers and mixed crews without formal authority

High attention to detail in equipment handling and show execution

Ability to manage shifting priorities across prep, warehouse, and show site work

Working knowledge of industry tools, equipment, and systems relevant to specialty

Dependable, adaptable, and comfortable in fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in multiple technical disciplines (audio, video, lighting, rigging)

Prior on-site leadership or crew-lead experience without direct reports

Familiarity with large-scale live events, corporate shows, or touring environments

Experience working with freelancers and union labor

Equipment maintenance or warehouse experience

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

Forklift certification or similar equipment training

CDL or experience driving box trucks
Compensation:
$50,000 - $75,000 Annually (plus commissions), based on experience and scope

Onsite assignments, weekends, and after-hours as needed
