The role:

Qolo is growing very rapidly and needs a VP People to help us reinforce and build on our core value of being a Quality of Life Organization. We are looking for someone who is data driven, transparent, and an excellent communicator. The key to success will be an innate sense of humor combined with a pragmatic approach. You will have start-up experience in a venture backed environment, having created the HR function from the ground up.


The VP People will be responsible for developing and executing a progressive talent strategy in alignment with the vision, values, and mission and in support of its overall strategic direction. The VP serves as a strategic and operational leader who oversees Human Resources functions, including organizational development, employee relations, talent acquisition, management, on-boarding, and off-boarding, performance management, policy administration, compensation and benefits design and administration. In addition, Qolo has a focus on learning and development, and the VP People will help us create Qolo U.


What you’ll do:


  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management and culture.

  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organization's human resource and talent management functions; assesses the organization's success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.

  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.

  • Provides strategic direction and oversight on compensation and benefits, ensuring regulatory compliance, equity, and competitive salary levels necessary to attract and retain qualified staff.

  • Modernize and make transparent our compensation philosophy and structure. Design a comprehensive strategy to integrate practices that focus on total wellness programming. This includes the processes for managing, analyzing, and determining the salary, incentives, and benefits each employee receives.

  • Provides guidance and leadership to the People Ops management team; assists with resolution of employee relations, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.

  • Directs the development of training and organizational development programs through staff or external consultants that address personal, professional, and corporate needs of employees and departments, supporting equitable opportunities for continuous learning.

  • Better utilize data to build scale leadership, talent development plans, and formulate cross-organizational processes to facilitate aligned succession plans.

  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.

  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.

  • Oversees the organization's staffing budget and the budget for the human resource department.

  • Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree; or commensurate experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources professional experience.

  • Venture-backed, high-growth company experience required

  • Worked in engineering-focused companies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and be familiar with HR-related software including ATS, HRIS, Payroll, etc.
