Instructional Designer - Temporary

Who is Vant4ge?

Are you passionate about supporting the building of a technology-based product that will actually help people in need? Do you want to work in an environment that is dynamic, challenging and constantly evolving? As a member of the team you'll have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative, creative and agile environment.

We are Vant4ge. Our staff is passionate about using technology to help and give hope to people who may have become involved in local, state or federal justice systems. We provide an online community-of-care that connects, coordinates and tracks all those who are involved in the correctional and rehabilitative life cycle, including those with the most at stake (the justice involved youth or adult, him/herself). Our technology seeks to empower all involved to assess, assign and encourage completion of treatment plans that will improve success in the community. We enjoy knowing our software at the end of the day is being used to help people.

Job Overview

Vant4ge has an immediate need for a skilled instructional designer to storyboard two courses that were previously delivered live by an instructor, and will now be transitioned to a blended learning format with most of the learning taking place through eLearning. The courses are as follows:

  1. Course 1 is an end user certification course that contains 9 modules. When delivered in person through instructor led training only, the total course time takes 2-3 days.

  2. Course 2 is a train-the-trainer that contains 3 modules. When delivered in person through instructor led training only, the total course time takes 5 days. This particular course will leverage more blended learning approaches than course 1.

Existing training materials (PowerPoint slide decks, facilitator guides), eLearning plan outlines, a design document, eLearning style guide, and learner analysis information will be provided to help inform the storyboarding process. Subject-matter-experts will be available for partnership to help understand the content and LMS system. A graphic designer will be available if new/updated graphics are needed for the design.

The current LMS platform this will be hosted in is Moodle. Options exist to leverage Moodle activities, collaborative learning features, and plug-ins to create a blended learning approach where needed. The eLearning will be developed in Adobe Captivate.

Expected deliverables will include training outlines and storyboards for each module that covers the full course content. Storyboards will need to include course/lesson/slide information, on-screen text and graphic elements, navigation and interactivity instructions, and audio and visual instructions including narration script. We are looking for mostly a level 2 design (with a small percentage of level 3 design) for these courses. Note: Content chunking is already in progress, but you may decide to adjust based on your storyboarding approach and may need to finish some of the chunking.

We are looking for someone who can dedicate full time hours for at least one month, possibly two. The hours would likely taper down as the project progresses. For any questions about the project, don’t hesitate to reach out.
