TCP unlocks the potential of technology for the common good by advocating for globally interoperable standards (i.e. SMART Health Cards), developing global ecosystems (i.e. The CommonTrust Network), and building tech solutions that empower individuals with their own data (i.e. CommonHealth).

CommonHealth is an AndroidTM platform that lets people collect and manage their personal health data and share it with the health providers, organizations and apps they trust. Available for download via Google Play, CommonHealth leverages data interoperability standards, including SMART Health Cards and HL7 FHIR, to offer functionality analogous to Apple Health to users of Android™ phones. CommonHealth is a platform of The Commons Project Foundation, developed in collaboration with UCSF, Cornell Tech, and Sage Bionetworks with broad participation from members of the healthcare ecosystem.

Role: Marketing Lead

Location: Remote

Type of role: Full Time

Compensation: $100,000-$140,000


Role Description:


The Commons Project is looking for a Marketing Lead to join our growing nonprofit techp that is transforming the way digital infrastructure and services are being built around the globe. You will be responsible for overseeing all marketing activities and communication channels used to promote TCP and its products and services. The marketing lead is responsible for ensuring that TCP’s marketing materials reflect the voice and needs of the consumer, identifying messaging, touchpoints and channels to drive brand awareness, acquire new users, and generate new business leads. The marketing lead collaborates with the product, support, and business development teams to ensure our brand presence is consistent and clear. They serve as the key liaison for strategic marketing relationships with external partners, agencies, and team members. Key responsibilities include leading audience research projects, developing brand messaging and channel strategies, overseeing content development, and analyzing marketing metrics and digital analytics. Part of the role will be building out the Marketing team as we scale, including managing several contractors, interns, and adding to the team as we grow..


We are looking for someone who is organized, creative, passionate about social issues and understands the impact of meaningful content. You must be a natural storyteller through your writing and communication style with experience in building and launching robust marketing campaigns that drive growth.


What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee all activities and communications channels used to promote the brand and products.

  • Set, monitor and report on marketing team goals, laddering up to organizational goals.

  • Ensure our branding, positioning, and messaging is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts.

  • Define, monitor and analyze marketing metrics and brand analytics. 

  • Conduct market research (including competitive analysis, trend monitoring, and user research) to understand user behavior and identify new market opportunities.

  • Work with various teams (product, support, business development, implementation) to develop and implement marketing tactics and strategies (partner materials, product launches)

  • Develop relationships and lead co-marketing efforts with partners and clients.

  • Manage marketing and design support resources, including TCP staff, agencies, and freelancers. 

  • Develop marketing budgets and staffing plans.

  • Translate technical product features into benefits for the user

  • Develop and execute product marketing strategies (partner materials, product launches)

  • Craft compelling messages across marketing channels (landing pages, email campaigns)


What’s Required:

  • Proven experience as a Product Marketing Manager, Brand Manager or similar role

  • Experience in market research and analysis

  • Familiar with product marketing tactics (e.g. integrated marketing campaigns)

  • Working knowledge of web analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Analytical mind and creative skills

  • BSc/BA in related field

  • Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot a plus

  • 7+ years experience in marketing in-house or at an agency


It would be a big plus if you have:

  • A strong understanding of tech, healthcare industry and/or social impact organizations

  • Experience working in an early-stage start-up

  • Experience building websites and working with product teams on UX/UI

  • A mix of B2B and B2C marketing experience

  • Experience crafting pitches 

  • Background in design and/or copywriting
