Position Summary

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our team for a fully remote position working in pacific or mountain time zone, preferred. The candidate will provide a full range of litigation and e-discovery support, including, but not limited to, preparation/revision of correspondence, preparation of pleadings, exhibits, and legal documents, e-filing, and conducting legal research. E-discovery experience to include e-discovery databases such as Everlaw and Relativity, experience with e-discovery from ingestion through review to production. The successful candidate is a very organized, detail-oriented team player possessing at least 10 years’ recent litigation paralegal experience. Some travel may be required.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Proofread, draft and/or finalize correspondence, pleadings, legal documents and other assignments as directed.
  • Prepare notices, subpoenas, proposed orders, certificate/proof of service, forms and other routine legal documents.
  • Prepare and organize evidence, exhibits and discovery as needed.
  • Create Tables of Contents and Tables of Authority, including performing cite checking and citation formatting.
  • File and serve legal documents through e-filing, paper filing, or use of filing vendor.
  • Conduct case related legal and non-legal research.
  • Maintain digital client files, including organization of case within file management system.
  • Coordinate internally with other departments and externally with vendors, clients and third parties.
  • Assist with the collection, processing, review, and production of electronic data via e-discovery platforms such as Everlaw or Relativity
  • Assist with e-discovery document review including marking or redacting
  • Serve as a point of contact for issues involving e-Discovery
  • Assist attorneys with docketing, travel, expenses as needed.
  • Coordinate mailings and packages related to client matters.
  • Prepare binders, folders and other physical work product for hearing, depositions and trial.
  • Handle a wide variety of complex and confidential time-sensitive material.
  • Provide legal project assistance, as necessary.

 

Essential Capabilities

  • Proficient in navigating Federal and State Court for filing and research, including use of Pacer and Westlaw.
  • Proficient with Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe.
  • Experience conducting legal research and checking citations
  • Quick to learn new software or applications
  • Outgoing, detail-oriented, and hard-working individual
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills to effectively handle multiple projects and to keep track of deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with clients, vendors, and attorneys
  • Ability to timely respond to deadlines, balance workload and take initiative.
  • Flexible and willing to work some overtime to meet case deadlines, when necessary

 

E-Discovery Paralegal

  • The qualified candidate will have a basic understanding of the litigation process, standard litigation support procedures and concepts.
  • 5+ years of experience in supporting e-discovery matters and applying e-discovery industry “best practices”
  • Understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and other e-discovery concepts
  • Should be familiar with basic project management concepts and electronic evidence rules and laws.
  • Knowledge of e-discovery review platforms and technologies preferred (i.e., Relativity, Everlaw)

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
  • At least ten years experience working as a litigation legal assistant, paralegal, litigation support.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with Relativity and/or similar provider, preferred.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the title “Paralegal” in the State of California, preferred.
