As the financial steward of our mission, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our resources are effectively managed to drive impact and change in our organization. The Controller will be responsible for the oversight of billing, receivables, accounts payable, accounting and payroll systems. This role will be responsible for financial reporting, financial audits, tax filings and will assist in the development of financial policies and systems.

 

At Imagine!, we are dedicated to creating a world of opportunity for all abilities. We are a $35 million non-profit organization servicing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Colorado. Due to state and federal mandates, Imagine! will essentially split into two organizations on July 1st, 2024. One organization remaining as Imagine!, and a new organization will be created called A&I Avenues. When this transition happens, this Controller will join A&I Avenues and will be the accounting department lead for the new organization. Until July 1, 2024, this position will be part of Imagine! and will assist the CFO and team in separating the accounting and back-office functions of the company into two entities. After July, the Controller will report to the CEO of A&I Avenues and will serve as a member of the leadership team. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Monthly financials
  • Recurring and adjusting journal entries
  • Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Payroll processing
  • Direct supervision of accounting team (AR, AP and Payroll Specialists)
  • Manages billing software, billing activities and troubleshoots denied billing
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital
  • Completes property and sales tax reporting
  • Establishes, documents, and implements accounting control procedures
  • Works with external auditor to prepare annual financial audits and 990s
  • Completes daily and weekly cash activity download
  • Conducts special projects and ad hoc reports
  • Serves as system administrator for the accounting system

 

Job Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles
  • Ability to analyze financial data with attention to detail and high accuracy 
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple technologies including internet-based databases, Microsoft etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Proactive and productive
  • Experience with billing systems: NetSuite and/or Sage Intacct Accounting system

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 7+ years related accounting experience
  • Previous Controller experience
  • CPA
  • 2-year supervisory experience
  • Accounting System Integration experience

Education:

  • Accounting degree from accredited college or university

This position pays a base salary of $90,000- $100,000 per year. Wage differential is based on training and experience.
