Job Title:       AP/Payroll Specialist

Reports to:    Controller

Pay Grade:   $55,000

FLSA:           Exempt Salaried

Purpose of Position- AP and Payroll.  Verifies and posts transactions to journals, ledgers and other records. May prepare statements, invoices and vouchers. May handle balancing and reconciliations. Take ownership of one or more areas of the accounting function.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Verifies and posts transactions to journals, ledgers and other records.

 

  • May prepare statements, receivables, invoices, checks and/or vouchers.

 

  • Performs data entry and other common bookkeeping tasks.

 

  • Reconciliations of Accounts.

 

  • Prepare and file annual 1099s, sales tax as required.

 

  • Distributes and routes administrative paperwork as necessary.

 

  • Provides information and assistance to representatives and outside vendors.

 

  • Takes ownership of Accounts payable function

 

  • Responsible for ensuring biweekly payroll process is completed in an accurate and timely fashion. 

 

  • Ensuring biweekly payroll journal entries are completed

 

  • Timely and accurate reporting of 403B payment and loans.

 

  • Assist with 403B audits as needed

 

  • Prepare ad hoc reports

 

  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Job Qualifications

 

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks/goals for self.
  • Ability to work effectively with various technology including MS 365, internet based databases, Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Effective and creative negotiator and problem solver.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

 

          Training/Education:

  • Associates degree in accounting or a related field
  • OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

          Experience:

  • 5-7 years related experience.  

          Working Environment/Physical Activities

  • Effective with shifting roles, responsibilities, and expectations in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines.
