Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Land Acquisition Specialist to lead the acquisition of land for the development of renewable energy infrastructure across multiple states. This individual plays a crucial role in driving our mission to expand sustainable energy solutions while navigating complex negotiations and managing relationships with landowners, local governments, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate needs to posses the drive and ability to close deals and has a well-versed understanding of real estate, foreclosures and auctions.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Identify and secure land for the development of EV infrastructure, solar arrays, battery storage, and other renewable energy assets in alignment with GWP’s multi-state expansion strategy.
  • Lead end-to-end land acquisition efforts, from initial site screening and market research through negotiation, due diligence, and final execution of purchase agreements, lease contracts, or easements.
  • Prepare investment committee memos and site evaluation reports to justify land acquisitions to senior leadership.
  • Conduct detailed feasibility analyses including land use compatibility, utility interconnection proximity, environmental constraints, permitting viability, and infrastructure access for renewable energy projects.
  • Track industry trends, competitor charging networks, and government incentives (federal, state, and local) to inform acquisition strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including Engineering, Construction, and Legal—to ensure acquired sites meet technical, permitting, and operational requirements for successful project delivery.
  • Lead negotiations with landowners, brokers, municipalities, and permitting authorities to secure favorable lease terms or purchase agreements for multi-site portfolios while developing strong relationships to build trust and promote GWP’s clean energy mission.
  • Monitor and adhere to project timelines and budgets related to land acquisition activities.
  • Stay current with local and state regulations, zoning ordinances, land-use trends, and permitting requirements relevant to clean energy development in both urban and rural markets.
  • Track and report acquisition pipeline status, timelines, and risks to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with GWP's strategic growth targets and project schedules.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land acquisition, real estate development, or a related field, with a focus on renewable energy projects being a significant advantage. 
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of successfully closing land deals. 
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate market trends, environmental regulations, and land use policies. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across various teams and with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Proficient in using land acquisition software and geographic information systems (GIS) is a plus. 
  • Willingness to travel extensively across multiple states as required.
