Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient CAD Drafter to support Green Water and Power’s project engineering. The individual will be responsible for creating and developing functional CAD templates, developing and maintaining block libraries, and preparing detailed electrical and site plan drawings for EV charging and photovoltaic (PV) systems. This position plays a key role in converting conceptual designs into construction-ready plans that comply with all CAD standards, applicable codes, utility standards, and project specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain CAD templates using industry CAD standards including title blocks, line types and weights, pen weights and styles, dimension styles, and plot files.
- Develop and maintain industry CAD drawing standards.
- Develop CAD libraries consisting of typical and standard details.
- Assist with document control, file management, and the preparation of plan sets for permitting and construction.
- Work closely with Project Engineers to translate technical requirements and design concepts into accurate, compliant, permit ready, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants (civil, electrical, structural) to ensure design consistency across disciplines.
- Prepare detailed CAD drawings for EV charging and PV solar projects, including site layouts, single-line diagrams, cable and conduit tables and plans, and electrical details.
- Update and revise drawings as project designs evolve, ensuring all markups, redlines, and revisions are incorporated accurately.
- Review design documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable electrical codes and utility standards.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or certificate in Drafting, Design, Electrical Design, or related field.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture a plus.
- Minimum 4 years of professional AutoCAD drafting experience in electrical, civil, or renewable energy projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD 2D.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency of National CAD Standards (NCS).
- Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), construction documentation, and permitting processes.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar platforms preferred.
- Experience with electrical drawings is preferred.
- Experience working for an electrical or a construction company preferred.
- Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Local travel within Southern California may be required.
