Hiring Pay Range: $21.15-$22.42/hr

Full Pay Range: $21.15-$24.52/hr

 

Job summary:

The Food Market Associate is responsible for participating in day-to-day operations at FIRC’s Food Markets. This position requires lifting up to 40 pounds, driving between locations in Summit County, assisting with incoming donations, distributing food, and communicating with the public and volunteers all while abiding by and enforcing safety protocols. This Food Market Associate will also have a special attention to overseeing all volunteer operations at the Food Markets including using the Volunteers database, managing Community Service hours, and running seamless Grocery Store Rescue Program with CAFÉ Food Rescue.

The person we are looking for will be:

Primary duties:

  • Have a positive can-do attitude, provide excellent customer service, engage as an agency-wide team member and diffuse any foreseeable situations or interactions that could potentially escalate
  • Perform all Food Market operations which include but are not limited to: unloading and receiving food deliveries; weighing and tracking donations; assist with composting, recycling runs and trash pick-ups; inventorying items into the system; moving food between locations; preparing food boxes for shoppers; checking in shoppers; provide resources and make referrals; pick up grocery store rescue donations; organizing and cleaning Food Market refrigerators and food storage spaces; and treating everyone with respect and dignity
  • Work in the field at the FIRC Food Market pre and post shifts and during the FIRC Food Market open hours
  • Enforce Food Market operations and rules including cleanliness, safety, and organizational protocols
  • Utilize technology and ensure timely and accurate data collection from Food Market shoppers
  • Stay up to date with FIRC emails and communications including maintaining an updated Outlook calendar and Dialpad number where staff can reach you
  • Greet clients and customers, answer Food Market phone, answer questions, establish rapport, and educate on available resources such as SNAP, WIC, and other community resources
  • Train and interact with volunteers including educating them on FIRC’s other programs and projects
  • Oversee FIRC’s Volunteers database including posting and updating shits, hosting orientation and appreciation events, ensuring all volunteer hours are tracked in the database, creating thank you communications on paper and through social media, setting goals to increase our volunteer base and ensuring volunteer jobs exist and volunteers feel engaged and recognized

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communicate Food Market needs and improvement ideas to leadership staff
  • During down time, find projects and jobs to complete, delegate to volunteers and ask what needs to be done
  • Participate in bi-weekly check-ins and team meetings with Food Systems supervisory staff
  • Participate in agency wide all staff meetings and trainings as required
  • Be available on some nights and weekends for special donations, deliveries and events
  • Assist with the Food Equity Coalition if needed and implement recommendations
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality at all times
  • All other duties as assigned, job responsibilities may change

 

General requirements of the position:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Direct service experience preferred
  • Experience working with diverse cultures, communities and people of all backgrounds preferred
  • Have a valid driver’s license, reliable year-round vehicle, and ability to drive the FIRC van
  • Pass a background check
  • Effectively demonstrate effective verbal communication skills, required in English and Spanish
