Hiring Pay Range: $105,000 - $115,000 (candidates will be hired within this range)
Full Pay Range: $105,000 - $132,000 + performance bonus eligible
Job summary:
The Development and Communications Director provides strategic leadership for all fundraising, donor relations, marketing, and communications efforts at FIRC. This role is responsible for generating revenue to support an annual operating budget of $7M+ while strengthening FIRC’s visibility, reputation, and community impact.
The Director oversees a multidisciplinary team currently comprised of a Development & Events Manager, Grants Manager, Marketing Coordinator, and leads work across four core areas:

Lead relationship development strategy and donor portfolio management to steward and grow individual, foundation, corporate, and government revenue

Oversight of the development and execution of innovative fundraising events, strategies, and campaigns

Management of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies to advance FIRC’s mission and impact

Foundational administration of fundraising-related data systems, infrastructure, best practices, and standard operating procedures

Primary duties:
-
Supervise Development and marketing staff, providing strengths-based leadership, accountability, performance management, timecards, scheduling, and PTO oversight, etc.; these responsibilities require consistent in-person presence.

Coordinate multi-channel fundraising and awareness campaigns in partnership with the Development and marketing staff, Executive Director, and Development committee, including strategy input, material development, implementation, dissemination, and reporting.

Lead marketing, communications, and public relations execution to communicate FIRC’s story and program impact, including impact reports, media outreach, and public-facing materials.

Oversee the grant funding strategy, ensuring alignment with overall funding goals by providing high-level support to the Grants Manager throughout the grant-cycle process.

In collaboration with the Development & Events Manager, plan and support donor and volunteer engagement activities, including three signature fundraising events and volunteer celebrations, and more, which may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Meet in person with donors and prospects to steward relationships and confidently make fundraising asks.

Write and oversee persuasive fundraising appeals and donor communications, including follow-up and stewardship messaging.

Maintain oversight of FIRC’s website (WordPress), email marketing (Mailchimp), and social media platforms (meta-business suite), donor management and accounting system (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT & Financial Edge NXT), volunteer database (Bloomerang), and client database (salesforce) to ensure accurate, relevant, and bilingual (English/Spanish) content and data.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Partner with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Development Committee to advance fundraising strategy, support board engagement in donor cultivation and solicitation, and build shared accountability for revenue goals.

Provide leadership and accountability for the structure, standard operating procedures, and integrity of FIRC’s donor management and accounting system (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT & Financial Edge NXT).

Develop and execute strategies to grow individual, corporate, and family foundation giving.

Oversee donor recognition programs and long-term stewardship strategies.
-
Uphold FIRC’s messaging framework and proactively pursue press and media opportunities in collaboration with community partners.

Collaborate with the Grants Manager to identify funding gaps and develop responsive funding strategies, especially across foundation and government portfolios.

Work with contractors and consultants to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and integration of fundraising, finance, and marketing systems.

Finalize capital campaign details and lead long-term stewardship strategies related to FIRC’s new building (Sol Center), including donor transition, retention, and integration into FIRC’s broader donor base.

Oversee donor, volunteer, and community engagement materials and communications

Create and implement a planned giving program and market to donors

Perform other duties as assigned.
General requirements of the position include:
-
College degree or related experience in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field preferred
-
A minimum of five years of experience in one or more of the areas of marketing, public relations, fundraising, or brand development is preferred
-
Proven experience in donor prospecting and cultivation, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse donors

Familiarity with fundraising and donor management software; experience with Raiser’s Edge/Financial Edge strongly preferred
-
Effectively demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, ideally in English and Spanish
-
Experience in working with diverse communities and programs advocating for equity

Experience with WordPress, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design platforms

Valid Driver’s License and reliable year-round transportation are required
