Location: Summit County, CO (in person) - Schedule Mon-Thu (one evening a month for Food Equity Coalition meeting) 

Language Requirement: Bilingual in English and Spanish 

Hiring Pay Range: $68,000 - $72,000 (pay will be determined based on experience and qualifications) 

 

Job summary: 

The Food Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing FIRC’s Food Markets, Food Equity Coalition (FEC) and driving systems change work. The Manager will be responsible for staying up to date with all Public Health and Food Bank of the Rockies regulations and requirements. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing a supervisor, the Food Market team, volunteers; ordering and inventory management; all logistics; delivery schedules and vendors; administrating complex technology systems, engaging with community partners and other FIRC departments; and performing high-level, administrative, financials/budgets, grants/deliverables, and data/evaluation tasks. The Manager will be a big-picture, systems-oriented thinker with initiative to look outside of internal Food Market operations and collaborate with local and state level agencies regarding Food Security and trends nation-wide. This position requires in-person work Monday-Thursday at various locations including some nights and weekends.

Primary duties: 

  • Oversee all Food Market operations in cooperation with the Food Market Supervisor including but not limited to abiding by health & safety procedures; ordering & invoicing; planning and implementing efficient food distribution models; staff scheduling and volunteer coordination; increasing the community’s access to healthy food they desire; ensuring an inviting and welcoming environment; continuously improving all food market operations for the better 

  • As a team member, provide in-person support during Food Market hours of operations 

  • Hire, train, schedule, coach/mentor, and supervise staff and volunteers via Bloomerang platform and in-person, providing cross-training of duties and increasing number of volunteers and enhancing the volunteer experience 

  • Effectively lead and manage a team of five or more staff and five or more volunteers at any given time 

  • Work with Sr. Manager of Programs to continually assess logistics and strategies to meet agency and community needs 

  • Participate in internal and external strategic planning initiatives, providing suggestions, incorporating changes, working with the Food Systems community in collecting community data and implementing the CHIP 

  • Coordinate, facilitate and communicate with the Food Equity Coalition including scheduling monthly meetings, communicating via messages/emails with coalition members, retaining/recruiting members, ensuring interpretation, tracking attendance and engagement, taking detailed notes, reporting on progress and distribute scholarships 

  • Perform regular analysis of Food Market logistics, utilization, effectiveness, and alignment with annual goals, including ensuring proper team use of Salesforce and PantrySoft databases 

  • Oversight and management of program grants and budgets, including establishing goals based on utilization and community need, meeting deliverables, writing reports and attending site visits 

  • Effectively report data to partner organizations per their reporting timeframes 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Clearly communicate accurate days/hours of operation and services offered, including Volunteer inbox and provide community outreach or education (with the assistance of FIRC’s Marketing team) while promoting FIRC’s mission, vision, and values 

  • Draft and update policies, procedures and Standard Operating Procedures for all essential activities in conjunction with appropriate staff training  

  • Advance food equity and access in Summit County, partnering with other organizations, school district and government entities to ensure sustainable funding and operations, and offer potential solutions 

  • Work with the Sr. Manager of Programs and Office Manager to ensure appropriate maintenance, cleanliness and safety of the facilities, equipment, and vehicles 

  • Collaborate with internal FIRC colleagues and external partners to effectively promote FIRC and community programs, opportunities, and resources to clients and community members 

  • Attend and conduct staff and team meetings, quarterly all-staff trainings, and professional development 

  • Oversee donations and deliveries from partnering agencies and community entities 

  • All other duties as assigned, job requirements may change 

 

General requirements of the position include: 

  • High school diploma and over 18 years of age
  • 3+ years professional supervision and management experience in food and beverage, hospitality, logistics operations or related field required 

  • Effectively demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, required  

  • Advanced technology skills including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite, web-based ordering and inventory, Bloomerang, Dialpad, PantrySoft, Salesforce, Formstack, Scribe, ChatGPT, Adobe, Canva, and other web-based databases is required 

  • Current Food Safety Manager and Food Handlers certificate preferred 

  • Knowledge of food distribution systems, health & safety regulations, efficient logistics and operations, optimal pre-planning and response skills  

  • Excellent customer service skills including active listening and the ability to speak to others with confidence and compassion 

  • Adaptability skills including troubleshooting, problem-solving, flexibility, and a stress-reducing mindset  

  • Valid Driver License, reliable year-round transportation, and ability to drive FIRC van is required
