Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 5,400 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Volunteer Compliance Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting our Volunteer Team and People Team to ensure that all volunteers and external partners are in compliance with legal and organizational requirements. The position will report to the Senior Director, People Operations and additionally maintains a secondary reporting line to the Director, Community Engagement. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance-related procedures to support the effective and compliant operation of volunteer initiatives.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance Management:

Maintain compliance policies and procedures for volunteer and external partner programs, including compliance trainings, background checks, reference checks, and TB tests

Ensure that volunteer and external partner requirements comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and CA state law

Conduct regular reviews and audits of volunteer and external partner participation and documentation in partnership with the Volunteer Assistant to ensure compliance and up-to-date records

Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact volunteer and external partner programs and collaborate with the People Team and Volunteer Team to update volunteer policies and procedures
Volunteer Support:

Provide guidance and support to volunteers, external partners, and staff on compliance requirements and best practices

Communicate on a consistent basis with Volunteer Assistant around volunteer and external partner compliance status

Address and resolve compliance-related concerns or questions from volunteers, external partners, and staff
Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate tracking records of volunteer and external partner activities, training, and compliance-related documentation

Prepare and submit reports on compliance status, issues, and improvements as needed to the People Team and Volunteer Team

Ensure that all volunteer and external partner documentation is up-to-date and securely filed
Communication and Collaboration:

Understand the dynamics of working with "high-profile" donors and provide strong support and follow-up with volunteers and external partner throughout the process

Identify potential compliance risks and recommend improvements to enhance compliance and safety

Work closely with the Volunteer Team to ensure alignment on compliance-related issues

Foster a culture of compliance and ethical behavior among volunteers, external partners, and staff

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or applicable work experience
-
1-2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, compliance, risk management, or a related field is desirable

Proficiency in compliance management tooling or the ability to quickly learn these platforms

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively in person and online

Strong customer service orientation

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and tasks

Ideally, you are an enthusiastic and solution-oriented individual who embraces challenges with a positive attitude. You excel in managing complex tasks without feeling overwhelmed and have a strong aptitude for efficiency and organization.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This role primarily involves 80% sitting and 20% walking or standing, with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. It may also require occasional stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, or crawling, as well as fine finger dexterity for tasks that require precision.
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, generally 9 AM - 2 PM
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining both in-office and remote work. You are expected to adhere to the following schedule:

In-Office Days: Currently Mondays and Tuesdays are designated to be in our Menlo Park office

Remote Work: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are set aside for remote work

Flexibility: Please note that this schedule is subject to change, and adjustments may be made in alignment with organizational needs and evolving circumstances
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Employment Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $25-$28 per hour, depending on experience (DOE)
