Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 5,400 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Director, Institutional Giving plays a pivotal role in optimizing and expanding revenue streams for BGCP's initiatives, with a primary focus on government, foundation, and corporate sources. This leadership position places a heightened emphasis on securing government funding by identifying opportunities, cultivating relationships with government agencies, and ensuring alignment between the organization's mission and government priorities. Additionally, the Senior Director will be responsible for establishing and overseeing structures for institutional giving, ensuring the timely submission of foundation proposals and maintaining accurate compliance. The position demands an organized, dynamic and strategic leader capable of navigating the complexities of institutional funding, advocating for the organization's mission, and delivering positive outcomes.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional giving strategy that aligns with BGCP's mission and objectives.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set short-term and long-term funding goals and priorities.

 

Funding Identification and Acquisition:

  • Research and identify funding opportunities, grants, and RFPs (Request for Proposals) that align with BGCP's strategic objectives.

  • Monitor legislative developments and policy changes related to funding and advocate for the organization's interests.

  • Prepare compelling grant proposals, applications, and grant-related documents, adhering to all application guidelines and deadlines.

  • Be aware of government funding being made available to schools and school districts that can fund work being done by BGCP, and collaborate with school officials to leverage this support.

  • Manage two grant writers primarily focused on foundation and corporate giving.

Budget Management:

  • Manage budgets associated with institutional giving, especially with government-funded programs, ensuring proper allocation of resources and compliance with funding requirements.

  • Monitor expenditures and provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all grant and funding regulations, reporting requirements, and audit procedures.

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to funding agencies and government partners.

Collaboration and Partnership Building:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders to align programs with funding objectives and requirements.

  • Establish partnerships with educational institutions, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program impact.

Advocacy and Public Relations:

  • Advocate for the BGCP's mission and funding needs through public speaking engagements, media appearances, and advocacy campaigns.

  • Raise awareness of the BGCP's impact and achievements in the education sector.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's preferred).

  • An established record of consistently surpassing institutional giving goals, exceeding $10 million, in alignment with our broader team's fundraising objectives.

  • In-depth knowledge of education policy, funding mechanisms, and grant application processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft persuasive grant proposals and reports.

  • Extensive experience in government relations, grant writing, or fundraising. Strong emphasis on government funding for education/youth development is preferred.

  • Strong project management and budgeting skills.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with government agencies, officials, and partners.

  • Experience in advocacy and public relations.

  • Proficiency in grant management software and tools.

  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.



LOCATION & WORK SCHEDULE

Flexible: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm; Menlo Park headquarters (with some travel to sites located up and down San Mateo County)

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time Salary

  • Pay Range: $125,000 - $165,000, depending on experience

  • Health Benefits: BGCP covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums; 50% for dependents

  • Retirement Benefits: BGCP offers salary contributions to the 401(k) plan

ONBOARDING PROCESS

  • BGCP will cover all onboarding process requirements

  • COVID Vaccination: Preferred but not required

  • Complete LiveScan background check

  • Undergo a TB test

  • Participate in mandatory onboarding training sessions
