ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 5,400 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Director of Major Gifts, you'll be a key leader on the growing Advancement Team, which raises $35 million annually through top-notch donor engagement. This role requires an outgoing individual with the ability to connect with diverse stakeholders, such as major donors, high school interns, and youth development staff members. A self-driven individual passionate about BGCP's mission, you'll play a crucial role in expanding our reach up and down the Peninsula from East Palo Alto to Daly City. Responsibilities include engaging and stewarding major donors, with a focus on acquiring new supporters through networking and lead generation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to articulate a compelling case for both unrestricted and restricted support. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, you'll collaborate closely with the Chief Executive Officer, showcasing your ability to inspire and build lasting relationships across the organization and with external partners.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Fundraising:

  • Conduct direct, face-to-face solicitations and secure major gifts ranging from $10k to $100k+

  • Manage a portfolio of both existing partners and new prospects (prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and ongoing stewardship)

  • Identify and engage high net worth individuals aligned with BGCP’s mission for new major gifts

  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategic moves management plans for donor portfolios

  • Research and prioritize new individual giving opportunities

  • Work with Board of Directors, committee members, and other key BGCP champions and donors to make connections with prospective donors

  • Represent BGCP at meetings to cultivate prospective funders 

  • Work with Impact & Measurement team to develop best ways to tell impact story 

  • Work with marketing team to align on messaging, use of language, updated facts

 

Holistic Donor Engagement Strategy:

  • Implement a strategic and personalized approach to donor stewardship, fostering meaningful connections

  • Collaborate with BGCP partners to cultivate and deepen relationships, ensuring sustained engagement

  • Deliver regular, personalized, and authentic communications to donors, fostering a sense of connection and appreciation

  • Collaborate with Programs and Volunteer teams to curate and lead meaningful donor engagement experiences including impactful tours, volunteering opportunities, etc.

  • Personally extend invitations and inspire donors to actively participate in events such as Youth of the Year, donor receptions, Future Launch, etc.

  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned to enhance donor relations and overall engagement efforts.

  • Utilize CRM and various platforms to comprehensively track donor actions, information, and touchpoints and review all development reports to ensure accurate tracking and acknowledgement of gifts

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5-7 years of development or related field experience with a proven track record of securing major gifts and meeting goals

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, demonstrating sensitivity to individual needs

  • Strong writing and speaking skills, compelling individuals to action

  • Knowledge of and commitment to fundraising ethics and best practices

  • Familiarity with Silicon Valley's high net worth audiences

  • Proficiency in CRM, prospect research, and other tools for effective moves management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated success in team collaboration across departments

  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required

  • Clear background check indicating fitness to work with children

LOCATION

Flexible: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm; Menlo Park headquarters (with some travel to sites located up and down San Mateo County)

 

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Full-Time Salary (Open to Part-Time)

  • Pay Range: $110,000-150,000, depending on experience

  • Health Benefits: BGCP covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums; 50% for dependents

  • Retirement Benefits: BGCP offers salary contributions to the 401(k) plan

ONBOARDING PROCESS

  • BGCP will cover all onboarding process requirements

  • COVID Vaccination: Preferred but not required

  • Complete LiveScan background check

  • Undergo a TB test

  • Participate in mandatory onboarding training sessions
