Position Summary

 

The Grant Process Manager will perform expository and persuasive writing to advance the fundraising, grant-making, advocacy, and public relations goals of the agency. The Grant Process Manager will coordinate and manage the agency’s work in researching, writing, and coordinating new grant opportunities. This position is responsible for the development of grant applications, identifying and evaluating new funding sources, collaborating with program staff and CHA leadership to develop compelling grant narratives. This position will assist in grant reporting as needed, participate in grant management processes, coordinate collaborations with contracted grant writers, assist in writing creative content for communications purposes for the agency, as assigned.

 

This position will manage the lifecycle of grants from kick-off, reviewing and providing updates, and submissions. This position will work collaboratively with other departments as needed and as related to grant management.

 

Essential Functions

 

Grant Writing

  • Develop, write and submit high quality proposals, narratives and applications, that align with organizational strategies and priorities, for all funder types, including foundations, corporations, government agencies, and others.
  • Project management of new grant applications in collaboration with Executive, Program, Finance and Data teams, and contracted grant writers
  • Gather team leads and other subject matter experts for proposal discussions, record, and compile information pertinent to grant applications.
  • Create and/or gather grant application components in a timely manner, including data requests, budgets, budget narratives, letters of support, MOAs/MOUs, organizational charts, job descriptions/resumes, and other necessary grant application documentation.
  • Tracking of all prospective funding opportunities and grant applications through grant tracking software and project management systems
  • Research, identify and evaluate new grant and funding opportunities for the agency.
  • Facilitate weekly results-based agency Revenue meetings with Executive staff, key Program staff, data team and finance team; ensure all departments and relevant parties are aware of grants in progress.
  • Maintain knowledge of current funders and funding opportunities, including those related to federal, state, municipal and private organizations.
  • Gather and maintain applicable research, data, best practices, and outcomes and utilize to best reflect CHA’s programs and services and demonstrate their continued importance.
  • Maintain a library of organizational reference materials including up-to-date boilerplate narratives, annual reports, program facts, client data.

Communications

  • Work closely with the Development Team to assist in communications and stewardship of donors.
  • Act as a resource for all program, administrative, and management staff by providing accurate and current agency data, program information, community and state data and current affairs, and other pertinent information to assist in communicating internally or externally.
  • Research and write articles, reports or content for internal and external communications including but not limited to: social media, donor letters, newsletters, event programs, annual reports, program overviews, speeches, nominations, letters of support, funder correspondence and other communications as assigned.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Write high quality grant report narratives for the agency, as needed, to ensure continuation of funding.
  • Work closely with the Data Department to maintain programmatic data for use in grants or communications.

Support/General

  • Learn and maintain strong working knowledge of CHA history, structure, programs, objectives, data, and financial needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key proposal contributors and stakeholders, including the Executive, Program, Finance and Data teams, and contracted grant writers, to produce high quality content.
  • Attend community meetings, trainings and presentations for informational purposes related to potential funding opportunities.
  • Support agency activities and fundraising events as necessary
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all agency personnel and departments.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Understand and comply with all Agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education                                                                                

Highschool Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is preferred.

 

Experience

Minimum three years of grant writing experience required. Not-for-profit grant experience preferred. Demonstrated professional knowledge of writing, proofreading, and editing.

  • Must possess knowledge of federal, state, municipal and other grant regulations, practices and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational and time-management skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to compile pertinent themes and details from verbal conversations or meetings into cohesive summaries for use in grant applications or other communications.
  • Ability to adhere to multiple co-occurring deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Covenant House Mission, culture, philosophy, history and tradition(s) and the underlying values upon which the Agency is founded to the staff, youth and the community we serve.
  • Strong ability to articulate agency goals, programs, activities and stories through written stories and narratives.

  • Possess a current state of Alaska Driving License and acceptable driving record assessed through CHA’s Drivers Acceptability Matrix
  • Pass federal, state, and local background check investigations.

Working Conditions

  • Position is based in an office setting within the Youth Engagement Center. Position will at times work off-site during events, both indoors and outdoors. Must have the ability to accommodate a wide range of strenuous activity during the events, including standing for long periods of time, walking long distances, etc.
  • Noise level is mild to moderate, consistent with office and residential environments.
  • Must have the ability to observe details within close range.
  • Must be able to remain in stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move within the office to access files and office equipment.
  • Consistently operates a computer and related office machinery.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairways within a wide variety of facilities with and possibly without the assistance of an elevator.
  • Must be able to occasionally handle objects up to 40 pounds.
