Job Summary:
Are you an enthusiast eager to dive into the world of construction Point Layout and Laser Scanning? Join our dynamic team as a Junior Reality Capture and Point Layout Technician. This entry-level position is tailored ONLY for individuals in the San Diego, CA area who are ready to kick-start their career in Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D LiDAR, and Point layout technology.
Training and Hiring Process:
As part of our commitment to nurturing talent, successful candidates will attend our free two-week technical training program. Upon passing the training assessment, candidates will be offered a part-time hourly position within our team.
This role is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience and learning opportunities under the mentorship of experienced professionals. The junior member will actively contribute to the success of on-site projects while growing their skills in the field of Reality Capture and Point Layout.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preliminary activities before on-site visits, including reviewing existing documentation.
- Generating the 3D laser scan data OR Layout field data by total station.
- Learn and support the generation of 3D laser scan data in the field, working closely with the senior team members. Engaging with clients and their on-site delegates.
- Assist in managing logistics related to the transportation of scanning equipment, ensuring proper organization and readiness for on-site activities.
- Actively participate in continuous learning and skill development, leveraging opportunities to enhance Reality Capture and Point Layout expertise.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines under the guidance of senior team members.
Qualifications:
- Previous exposure or experience, even at a minimal level, in construction projects is highly preferred.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and clients.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to challenges.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- A flexible approach with the ability to travel up to 80% based on project requirements.
- Being able to pick up and move scanning gear, like the scanner, tripod, and targets, weighing about 40 pounds during your workday.
- A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary for this role, as it may entail activities such as ascending stairs, prolonged periods of standing, and navigating uneven terrain and surfaces.
- BIM process knowledge is a plus.
