PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The 5th & 6th Grade Pastor’s primary responsibility is to lead, manage, and develop the 5th & 6th grade students at Northview’s Carmel campus. This job requires weekend hours on Saturday and Sunday. This is an Exempt Full-Time position in the Northview Students Ministry and reports to the Carmel Northview Students Pastor (7th/8th Grade Pastor).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Gives Ministry Away
  • Shows commitment to Cultural Standards
  • Develops and delivers weekly messages for 5th & 6th programs
  • Manages 5th & 6th volunteers
  • Provides oversight of 5th & 6th special events, retreats, etc.
  • Develops curriculum as needed
  • Attends weekly staff meetings and service planning meetings
  • Provides pastoral care and guidance to students and parents
  • Is available for service hosting and baptisms
  • Identifies and develops leaders in students and adults
  • Recruits, trains, leads and motivates 5th & 6th volunteers
  • Takes initiative in building relationships, conducting regular informational/training sessions, and showing appreciation to volunteers
  • Helps create and develop a culture that embraces the values, purposes and directions of Student Ministry
  • Attends a service each week to stay in tune with the direction of Northview and to continue to develop spiritually
  • Prays regularly for Northview’s leadership, volunteers, and students
  • Pursues regular contact and relationship building with students and their parents
  • Ensures safety of students by identifying and implementing appropriate risk management and training practices
  • Responds to emails and voicemails within 24 hours
  • Oversees weekend services
  • Coordinates Northview Students events with other ministries
  • Attends Huddle meeting
  • Coordinates with outreach to plan opportunities for families to give and serve within Northview Students
  • Strives to improve personal and professional skills by looking for and participating in learning opportunities
  • Performs related duties as assigned by manager

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position works with volunteers and must have an understanding that volunteers are key to the ministry of the church. The employee must have a heart to recruit, train, equip and support volunteers in fulfilling their roles. This position may supervise Northview Student Residents or Fellows, providing them with guidance and mentorship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a related field from a four-year college or university plus three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Related experience includes working with middle school students, experience in teaching, managing people, and leading volunteers.
