PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Grounds Service Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to help volunteers “get plugged in" to serving in the Grounds ministry.  This position encourages and communicates regularly with volunteers and assures they have the tools and instructions to safely complete the grounds ministry service projects. This position is a non-exempt part-time hourly position in the Grounds ministry and reports to the Grounds Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Recruits, trains, mentors, manages, and communicates with volunteers and community service individuals
  • Handles the primary volunteer communication for the grounds department to include answering e-mails, texts, and phone calls
  • Sends out reminder emails and outlines instructions to volunteer teams serving on upcoming projects
  • Greets volunteer project teams on the day of serving and makes sure they have the tools, training, and instructions to safely complete the project
  • Maintains E-space requests and volunteer assignments on Google Calendar
  • Helps to maintain volunteer service hours and updates in Rock database
  • Assists with grounds duties as needed
  • Teaches volunteers how to properly perform tasks and operate equipment
  • Encourages and appreciates volunteers by sending out thank you cards and emails
  • Works with other ministries, non-profit organizations, companies, or schools to ready outside areas for special events
  • Attends monthly staff meetings
  • Shows commitment to staff values
  • Checks email and voicemail and returns all phone calls within 48 hours
  • Performs related duties as assigned by manager

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position works with volunteers and must have an understanding that volunteers are key to the ministry of the church. The employee must have a heart to recruit, train, equip and support volunteers in fulfilling their roles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid driver’s license and meet insurance requirements.

Related experience includes managing teams of people, experience with volunteer coordination, and mechanically minded.
