PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Photography Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to capture essential still photography assets for use in all communications and marketing materials, physical, digital and otherwise. This includes social media, websites, advertising, and storytelling. The Photography Coordinator will also assist with the acquisition, upkeep, and maintenance of the photography equipment. This position is an exempt full-time position in the Communications Department and reports to the Content Strategist. This position is weekend required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Give Ministry Away 

 

Photography of all Northview Church Experiences: 

  • Work with the Content Strategist and communications team to develop a plan for capturing all weekend experiences, tier one special events, and requested additional events at Northview Church 
  • Coordinate and direct all photography for social media, app and website use on Northview’s main accounts.  
  • Review and edit all photographs captured at events and during weekend services 
  • Work ahead of schedule to allow time for edits and updates to be made 
  • Assist in teaching Communications Residents about photography and editing  

  

Photography Project Management and Process Evaluation: 

  • Provide creative direction, budget management, organizing of logistics, deadlines and communicate with teams each step of the way on projects you oversee 
  • Provide edits to all photography in a timely manner 
  • Work with Content Strategist to plan out all details for large shoots, including the purchasing of props, booking locations and scheduling models  
  • Give weekly updates to Communications Team on timelines of current and upcoming projects  

  

Video Creation/Support: 

  • Support Communications Team in shooting and editing video as needed for social media, app and marketing purposes
  • Add to the creative collaboration discussions on video related promotional projects 
  • Assist in coordinating with Video Team/Social media Coordinator for any Communications Team led video shoots 
  • Assist in teaching Communications Residents about video production 

 

Volunteer Support: 

  • Support campuses in recruiting and training weekend/campus photographers and Ministry Associates 
  • Communicate well and consistently with volunteers to keep them informed

  

Collaboration, Craft and Community: 

  • Prepare for and contribute in all assigned meetings 
  • Prepare creative pitch for photography assets as assigned 
  • Partner with the Social Media Coordinator, Project Manager, Art Director and additional staff to promote a unified team mentality 
  • Consistently hone personal production skills and stay abreast of technical advances in still photography and editing  
  • Participate in non-photography departmental projects as needed 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position does not directly supervise a staff member but does work with volunteers and must have an understanding that volunteers are key to the ministry of the church. The employee must have a heart to recruit, train, equip and support volunteers in fulfilling their roles. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma and two to four years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in photography and editing, as well as familiarity with video production.

Related experience would include: 

  • Proven technical knowledge in photography equipment and editing software 
  • Moderate to expert level experience with Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop 
  • Familiarity with modern camera equipment and possession of basic understandings of how to work DSLR and mirrorless cameras, as well as the basics of lighting and staging subjects
  • Overseeing volunteers
