Purpose of the Role  

The Northview Kids Director’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership, vision, and creative direction to the Northview Kids ministry at their campus. This job requires weekend hours (Sunday Services) and includes 1 weekend off/quarter. This position is part of the Northview Kids Ministry and reports to the Campus Pastor with a dotted line to the Family Ministry Pastor.

Essential Duties 

  • Identifies and develops leaders to serve in Northview Kids 

  • Recruits, trains, leads, and motivates Northview Kids volunteers. Takes the initiative in building relationships, conducting regular informational/training sessions, and showing appreciation 

  • Helps create and develops a culture that embraces the values, purposes, and directions of the Kids ministries 

  • Attends a service each week to stay in tune with the direction of Northview and to continue to develop spiritually 

  • Prays regularly for Northview’s leadership and the Kids Ministry staff team 

  • Pursues regular contact and relationship building with children and their parents 

  • Ensures Safety of children by identifying and implementing appropriate risk management and training practices  

  • Communicates regularly with Northview parents about what is happening in Northview Kids 

  • Strives to improve personal and professional skills by looking for and participating in learning opportunities 

  • Responds to emails and voicemails from parents and volunteers within 24 hours 

  • Communicates with other ministries on room usage in Northview Kids 

  • Steps into Northview Kids classrooms to help and encourage volunteers  

  • Oversees weekend services 

  • Meets with potential volunteers to share the vision of Northview kids 

  • Meetings, phone calls, and emails with parents as needed 

  • Works with and provides leadership in all areas of Northview Kids 

  • Coordinates Northview Kids events with other ministries  

  • Recruits, trains, leads, and motivates volunteers 

  • Oversees security issues and improvements in Northview Kids 

  • Oversees repairs and upgrades to Northview Kids rooms 

  • Ongoing planning and preparation for upcoming campus level Family Framework events 

  • Attends Huddle meeting 

  • Attends all-campus NV Kids “Best Practices meetings” 

  • Coordinates with outreach to plan opportunities for families to give and serve within NV Kids 

  • Attends Kids Director virtual Touchpoint meetings with Family Ministry Pastor (2x/month) 

  • Leads Baby Dedication (2x/year) 

  • Leads Family Rhythms (1x/year) 

  • Host FX (2x/year) and volunteers at FX (2x/year) 

  • Leads Bible Presentation (1x/year) 

  • Leads volunteer appreciation events (at least 2x/year) 

  • Leads volunteer training events 

  • Ensures coverage for any team members that are off for weekend services 

  • Performs related duties as assigned by manager 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Supervises Northview Kids Elementary Coordinator, Northview Kids Serving Coordinator, Northview Kids Early Childhood Coordinator, and the Special Needs Coordinator 

This position works with volunteers and must have an understanding that volunteers are key to the ministry of the church, and the employee must have a heart to recruit, train, equip and support volunteers in fulfilling their roles

Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus three to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience would be working in children’s ministry as a coordinator or director, preferably at a large church. 

Employees with the above education and experience should be able to perform the job details satisfactorily within 3 months of being with the church.
